Default Optima Blue top Batteries

Thoughts on using these in a car/truck?

I have them laying around, 2 of them, Seems like a waste to just leave them sitting around. Any battery guys out there have an explanation as to why this owuld be a bad idea?

Dick.

Use them. Or...just let them lie around for two more years until they're totally worthless.

The blue tops are made for deep discharge and a slow recharge, opposite of what they exsperience in a dd.I think they will be fine, but you may shorten their life some.I would make a point of leaving the lights on once in a while to draw the battery down, and then charge it back up,to keep it working for as long as possible.
I have had bad luck with optimas in the boat lately, sounds like yours are old enough to be the good ones.

They make two different styles in the blue top- Starting and deep cycle.
It should say what kind it is right on the tag. The only difference between the blue and yellow is it has wingnut terminals I believe.

They are junk - I'll pay you $5 each for the scrap value. PM when I can pick them up.

They are at least 5+ years old. Probably older than that.

They will not be in my DD, they will be in a truck that at times can sit in the driveway for as a week or two with out moving.

This is bullshit. He is setting you up. They are actually grade BS hazmat. They are only legally allowed to be disposed of by a certified BS haz card holder. I am a card holder and will take them off your hands for the low cost of you paying me $15 per month for the rest of the year. You pay shipping.

That's a lot better deal then the place I checked into offered. Send my your paypal information and I will deposit a check into your account, please understand I only have one check and it will be for too much money, but please just send the remainder back to me.

What is BS is you trying to rob me of the deal we had worked out. Even though he didn't say it was a deal yet, it was in my mind. DAMB YOU!

just use them. Not ideal, but they're free and currently being used as paper weights and toe jammers.

There are starting and deep cycle batteries in the blue. Identify what you have and check the Optima website as to it's correct application. I run a blue top in my Jeep and it's been there for a few years.
