For what it's worth, I love our 2010 4cy 6 speed fusion.

Focus is a great car too, obviously a tad smaller but still a decent amount of cargo space. If you're going to have adults in the back seat the Fusion is more comfortable. As far as where its assembled...the engineering and development is mostly happening here, at the end of the day the money is coming back to the US... Think of it as a partnership. Besides, for the Focus being assembled here - my dear husband sure did have to spend a lot of time in Mexico/Thailand/China for his Focus project....

My parents absolutely love their 2010 Malibu with the 4 cyl. in it. They usually get a new car every 2-3 years and said this is the one they have been most happy with.

My mom got a new malibu back in the fall. What a vanilla car.

When I see it all I can picture it as is a rental/fleet vehicle.

At least the Fusion looks nice.

I've not been in a Fusion - but I have no problem / not surprised how all that have posted like theirs: Ford makes an excellent product.

Right now, it's a pretty good time to buy a new malibu: 2013's are coming out and they're trying to move the 2012 inventory off of the lot. There's up to $4500 off the 1LT package, and I can get you supplier pricing for about another grand.

I have a 2009 Malibu test vehicle that I've logged a lot of miles in and I love it. Duffy recently got a new Malibu also - maybe he'll chime in here - I think he really likes it too.

My dad is retired from GM so I can get the discount but it's not as much as it used to be. I can also get a prefered trade in bonus for my Honda. I think if I went that route I'd go with a new Fusion but I'm thinking I should just deal with the Honda for another year or so. I really hate car payments and I don't have 15-20k saved.

I looked at both those two car for weeks for my gf. And was never impressed by either of the two. They both seem kind cheaply built. We ended buying a 06 tdi jeta for 12k and have been averaging about 44mpg. And i feel it has as much inside room as the two car your looking at.

Just my .02

Um, if you have that setup - a 1LT would be just under $18K after a total of $6500 cash back and EVA - on top of the preferred pricing.. I know you're happy with no payments - but getting a car with a MSRP of $25,175 for $17,813 - along with a 5year/100k pt and 3/36 bumper-to-bumper warranties kinda makes it a no brainer.

The guy I talked with was actually trying to get me into a cruze so maybe thats the difference. He said my GM discount would only get me another 1000 off and I'd get an additional 750 for my trade, if I traded it in. The way you list it would make sense. The only other thing I'm worried about is that after two years I'll have 90-110k on it and still owe money. I guess I'm just cheap.

I've had a Malibu as a rental, and my sister-in-law owns a fusion. I have to say that the Malibu, as mshaffer put it is very vanilla. Choosing between these two cars the Ford is the clear winner. IMHO

City depend how traffic mostly 26-28 and highway 55-60 mph you be see 34-39 mpg with NO Cruise control or heat/ac or radio. Tires were at MAX pressure I think 40 psi something.

Short trip get HUGE HIT on mileage badly.

Aunt's 2010 Fusion 4 cylinders with about 50k miles. Trenton to Wixom and Saline. She say mileage is most time 29-32 at her prefer speed mostly like 80 mph. Winter it less like 26-27.

Only one thing I HATE how it shift. It want shift higher rpm than you prefer.
My 2010 fusion is a joke i get 27.5 mpg. If i would of known that before i bought it i would of just got the 6 cilinder.

my 06 saab 93 got better mpg and had some balls to back it up. i miss that car.
