Default Phone tether restrictions

When I tether my computer to my phone I cannot do certain things like send email and log onto certain websites, any ideas on how to overcome this?

Verizon, using easytether lite. Maybe if I pay for the upgrade it will work?

I use pdanet for my verizon phone, after the free trail I had to pony up to regain access to websites and email. But it was only a one time fee of like $25 or something. Been using it for almost two yrs now.

Do people that don't have unlimited data plans have to pay extra for tethering? If so that's kinda bullshit. To me if you have X gigs of data to pull through that phone per month it shouldn't matter how it gets done whether its from the handset or from a PC pulling through it.

Even at that rate who would want to tether, on 3G at least, unless they absolutely had no other choice? 3G seems like dialup at times.

I do not pay extra to tether, just download easytether lite on mu computer and phone and it works.

I can receive email but cannot send or I tried to send a payment with my credit card on a website and that did not work or I could not log onto a website.

You have to upgrade to the paid version to access secure websites.

From... http://www.appbrain.com/app/easy-tet...asytether_beta

THE LITE VERSION BLOCKS HTTPS, INSTANT MESSENGERS AND GAME CONSOLE TETHERING. IF YOU WANT FULL FEATURES, PURCHASE THE FULL VERSION.

Full app allows https - access to secure sites such as facebook, gmail, online banking etc.

Full app allows you to tether ps3, xbox 360, wii via your PC - enable Internet Connection Sharing on your computer for that.

Full app is $9.99, one-time fee, cheaper than PDANet

I am a caveman when it comes to computers, I can figure most stuff out but sometimes I need a step by step on stuff like that and not sure what to do after it is rooted or what the benefits would be.

Rooted, you can wireless tether free, get rid of bloatware, block ads, etc.

Might want to have a more tech savvy person do it. Some phones can be rooted 'one click', but it is possible to brick it.

You need to root, and install a custom ROM that has tethering unlocked. Gaining root access alone doesn't do it.

Not necessarily true... I know of several EVO 4g and EVO 3d's that are rooted and none have custom roms but all of them have/had free wireless tether.
