Lightbulb 1979 cj5 4.2 not starting

Hi I bought a Jeep today it is a cj5. 4.2 3 speed the motor will not start it pops through the Carb and exhaust. New plugs and wires and coil d cap were to start new update I talk to the owner he said the motor ran until he did a tune up with mew cap plugs then he said it will not start backup so I'm lost

How is throwing flames in the carburetor I checked the distributor the plug wire are in order I think it has something to do with the timing

Definitely sounds like a timing related issue. I would start with finding TDC on #1 cyl and go from there, check that the rotor it pointing in the right direction, that all the plug wires are in the right order, and maybe pull the valve cover to make sure stuff is opening and closing when its supposed to.

I think you found your problem.

Put the plug wires in the right spots. Hopefully he didn't pull the distributor.

The yj tub will bolt up to the cj 5 frame but is 5 inches shorter so you have to make the frame 5 inches longer in the rear that's what you have to fix it
