Smile Locker and Axle Q

Would anybody know if I can put a Lockrite locker from a 94 D35 in a 02 D30? I know that it has been done, putting D35 lockers in D30s, but was just curious if anybody knew if that combo would work. Thank you

I read up on this a little bit, I guess since they are clearanced for the d35 clips it will clear the non-c clip D30, but you will be using a file to get it in there. Some accept it some you gotta caress a little bit, and make sure it's ratcheting and not too tight...other than that they say your good to go...and if your using a vac disconnect I'd take it out and use a non-disconnect axle shaft in its place. Just my 2 cents tho. Let us know how it goes. I'm very interested.

Yea I read about it on JeepForum and it looks like it's a go. Plus a buddy of mine did this and so far everything is operating smoothly. As soon as I pick up the locker I will keep you updated. Thanks for the info!

Ya I put a d35 Aussie in my d30 just took a little filling of the carrier. I've ran it for about a year with no problems. I know only certain years will fit but forgot where I found the info or who told me......basically that's his concern

Yeah don't do that! If needed file the locker as it is stronger than the carrier. That was one of those a 4am ideas that seemed good at the time lol. However that's an Aussie problem, your Lockright should just drop in.

Yeah it's 93 up case they used a smaller carrier or axle shaft or something (can't remember exactly) but in your case you are good to go, and the amount of filing is very light from what I read. It's just the rough casting and Aussie and Richmond who kinda "oversize" there lockers. No problem in a 35 but the 30 is tight. I'd do it tho...they are cheaper and theres a lot of used ones around (if your on a budget)

Yea I'm on a budget Lol. Getting used parts if there in good shape is good enough for me for right now. If everything goes as planned, I should have everything done before the blessing!

I don't even own a jeep anymore. Im doubting te toyota will be together by then, I had a good roll with my entire tax return, but it's finally dying out and the project is ohhhh 5/8 of the way done...which is kinda dissapointing

Nice find Wade I knew I had a thread about that but couldn't remember where. Filling the carrier might make it a little weaker but that was your idea Wade and it had held up over a year just fine. You all know I haven't been easy on it either by the 4 sets of shafts I've broke

The locker is stronger but good luck filling it down won't be as easy

Btw his lock right won't look any different than my Aussie....
