Default Santorum bows out.

So, how much longer will Newt stay in?

Not long. Newt is broke and has to know he has no chance of winning the primary.

I'm waiting for Trump to come in at the last minute. I do not think he would win it. More about putting his name out there for 2016. But, if he did how would that make the others look that have went broke campaigning all this time.

Trump has already endorsed Romney. Why would he run against him?

I could see nation wide advertising campain that ran over and over right before the election. I imagine it would go something like
"so and so has spent $$$ on his campain just like so and so and so and so. Is this how you want your government run? Donald trump has a track record of." Yadda yadda more
comparing and generalized bad mouthing."

He would run as a independent despite his views and probably boast that also.

As long as Romney need him to. My theory is the Romney and the GOP want Newt to stay in so that the media will keep paying attention to the primaries. Once it’s definitely decided they will lose much of the press coverage.

People change there views on the candidates every day. Just cause he endorsed him then does not mean he would not stab him in the back to win the seat.
From a financial perspective jumping in at the last minute in a all or nothing campaign makes sense. He looks at stuff from a finical perspective like that.

I don't think it will happen. Be one heck of a upset though.

I do my best to stay away from the until after July. Then I compare each candidate(that is left) and pick the one I feel will do the best job.

Personally, I don't see the appeal of a loudmouth fame-whore like trump, but...

Trump is definitely too late to get on the ballot as a Republican and with the deadline to get on the ballot as an Independent in the middle of July to early August in most states, he would need to start collecting signatures probably around the end of this month or start of May in order to get them turned in and certified in enough states in time.

In order to start collecting signatures that soon, he would need to have begun getting a team of professional political organizers working in each state right about now at the very latest.

I don't see it happening (getting on any ballots) at all for Trump in 2012. (or 2016, or 2020, or 2024, or 2028...)

Trump wants no part of being president. He does that shit to get attention for his shitty books and lame tv show. Do you really think a guy like Trump thats already that rich wants the scrutiny that comes with running for president?

I see him staying in all the way to Tampa, as will Paul. The best shot they both have is a brokered convention. With Santorum out, his unbound delegates go to anyone in round one. His bound delegates still have to vote for Santorum in the first round.

If Romney can't get 1144 in the first round of voting at the convention, then it's anyone's game. Paul has been stacking the delegates in his favor in order to take advantage of this. Expect all hell to break loose at that point.

Remember, the delegate counts you see in the media are mostly straw polls. The actual vote happens in Tampa. Romney will need to secure 1144 votes in the first round. After that most bound delegates become unbound and can vote for anyone. However, rules vary from state to state and some bound delegates can vote for anyone even in the first round, some have to wait until several rounds have passed. Also rules can be changed at the convention by the delegates themselves before any voting takes place.

When you factor all the variables it becomes impossible to know the outcome until the first round vote actually happens. One thing is for sure, it isn't over yet.

Yes it is.

The primary is such a goat fukc they all look like clown shoes to the general public.

Despite blatant WTF moment after WTF moment from Obummer massive amounts of people still are blindly supporting him.

I'll vote even if a is their final candidate, but I fear this race was over before it even started...

The only positive to oblahblahblah being re-elected is there should be a massive swing to the right the next time around.

So you are assuming there will be a next time around after that?

I agree with your cynical outlook, however...

It's going to be a painfully long summer, do you think the O' can keep his numbers above 50% till November?

It's party before principal with these people, that's the problem. If you vote R regardless of the candidate that's selected then you are perpetuating that problem and can expect more of the same in the future.

That all assumes that your vote even counts, which is very questionable.

I would not write in Ron Paul. He has many good qualities but there are a couple that rule him out.
- Foreign policy
- Age

I can agree with that...but what really are your other options?

Don't vote and let everyone else figure it out?
Vote for one of the 100 other parties that will never have more than .00001% of the vote in my life time?
Vote for Obama, the guy I don't want to win in the first place?

I just really don't see many options.

Unfortunately the way the system works you have to either vote for what you believe in or vote for the lesser of two evils. To me that will always be the .
