I agree...you can be the best parents in the world, but you just can't control everything.

Wow. I just moved to Fowlertucky and hadn't heard any of that. Not that it would've stopped me, I don't have any kids and I came from Highland, where I'm sure it's just as bad with some of the trashy people around there. It's crazy the sh1t kids are dealing with these days. I graduated in 02 and the worst thing I ever had to say no to was pot and cigarettes....I drank the alcohol though

The dealer that sold those kids the Heroin ought to be strung up in a tree and whipped for all to see. I'm sure I would do worse if it were my kid.

^ Agreed.

I can not even fathom how this shit can be going on at such a young age! My daughter just turned ten, and to picture her or kids her age being exposed to this kind of bullshit makes me angry.

Slightly sad too..

Thinking about this makes me sick to my stomach. I would hope my two boys are smarter than that. The wife and I have been preaching about drugs since an early age. I made my oldest son (15 at the time) watch a special on Meth a few years ago and he was crying half way through and asked me to turn it off. He brings up that show often and thanks me for making him watch.

If it were my kids using the shit, I think the law enforcement community would have one less dealer to worry about. On the other side, what parent doesn't notice their 9-11 year old kid with track marks and high as hell?

My friend Kimmy is a 3rd grade teacher in Flint. She had a 3rd grader bring cocane to school a few years ago. A few weeks later a 4th grader brought a gun. WTF is this world coming to? She also said a student told her she was sexually active in 3rd grade....

I'm sure these kids didn't break open their piggy banks to get some heroin from a dealer. More than likely they took it from one of these kids parents or friends. Oh and if they were shooting heroin with a needle that means one of those kids has seen it done and knows how to get it in the syringe.

Me either. I knew Pontiac and Royal Oak had problems with talking with relatives in the Police & Fire depts, but didn't realize it was big in Livingston.

Just talked to my brother and it comes out that the older sister of the 11 year old is where they got it from and she's 14. My brother doesn't know what to do. He's talking about moving but idk if that will help.

Huh.

The random car break-ins out here in the "country" kinda make sense now.

Yep Heroin and Cocaine are a big issue around here. Said thing is no one does a damn thing about it and its sick as shit.
My mom works for Hartland Schools and has caught and reported on kids doing dealing in the school but nothing ever happens and its BS. She does what she can but the "Upper" admins just dont want to admit its going on.

I know of two girls I went to school with getting hooked up and being friends with one of the big dealers in the county and one is now dead and the other is just messed up real bad. Worst part about it was the dealer was still selling but under police protection for sometime as they were trying to get the head dealer.

Also a few years ago my co-workers son who was also one of my best friends cousin was kill buy a fellow drug addicted after he got clean and was working on turning his life around so he could spend time with his new born daughter. It was a very sad thing do deal with at work and I felt horrible for her.

I know Brighton has a bigger issue with than the rest of the county but its still wide spread and just f*cked up. A lot of it has to do with the amount of money these kids get there hands on for what little they do earn it and its just sick.

Used to live in Fowlertucky over on BullRun Rd. Back then I spent many a weekend at the Red Apple Bar in Howell. Never suspected a Heroin thing.

That sucks. I heard rumors that my son, had been real heavy into the drug scene. He never came around, but he went to my ex-wife's house and broke in twice. Stole a bunch of stuff, so that substantiated things for me. Time went on, and d I ran into him around town once. He was so high, he didn't know who I was at first.

"Daaa....? Oh haaa Daaa...."

I shook my head and walked around. At 20 years old, he knows everything.

I used it for comparison. we used to be rated much higher on the meth lab dial. I wasn't sure where we ranked now.

It's not THAT shocking.

Let's see:

Higher than average household incomes (i.e. access to cash or valuables)
Higher rate of absentee parents as a result of long workdays driven by maintaining higher than average incomes (especially in bad economy) and long commutes
Larger numbers of kids with same circumstances (above)
Parents who rationalize that higher real estate values and distance from lower income areas counteract moronic teenage (and pre-teen) behaviors
Teens (pre-teens) getting socialization from media rather than parents, grand-parents, etc...
Sullen teenagers (and pre-teens) who don't feel they're getting the requisite level of parental attention from often-absent working parents (bolstered by often-unrealistic expectations driven by media)
Reluctance on part of parents to require kids to perform chores, get jobs, etc... to assist with socialization/build values resulting in a lot of "empty time"
Etc...

It's not rocket science - and not unique to MI.
