they have a 2000 from an xj, 1100$... from what i have been reading though, TJ and XJ motors are quite a bit different. TJ/WJ interchange no problem, the accessroies and mounting areas are completely different on XJs.

Seems like everyone wants 1k plus for these motors. Really regretting buying this jeep last year

I tried for a couple months to find one, then just redid my 2000 cylinder head and bought a 1999 engine for $250 from a ghetto yard. It has been around for three years and runs great.

Please pm me if you go to sell it whole without the engine replaced.

well i am guessing the head is cracked and the leaking coolant killed the motor, could be wrong. so did you transfer over the coilpack stuff then?

I am not in a huge hurry to fix it so I am gonna keep looking, the jeep is too clean and solid aside from the motor to walk away from, also only had it a year

cant believe how many people want 1k plust for these motors with over 100K, if it comes down to it ill just get a reman. worst part is that a friend sold one with 100k from a 2000 for 400$ a week before this blew

Yeah, transferred my head and the cam position sensor... mine had an oiling issue for either cylinder 5 or 6 that wiped out the rod. It was knocking pretty good but still ran. I guess that is as common as the head cracking. Pull your head off and have someone reputable check it out. If it comes back good then you are in business.
