Default hitch Hikers; Pick up, or not?

Just wondering what you all do when you see a hitch hiker? If someone is standing on the side of the road, i never stop, unless maybe i see them near a broken down vehicle.

Today i went to eat (college cafeteria) with my roommate, and as we were leaving we had a women (late 20's , early 30's) walk up to us and ask if we drove. I said yeah, and she asked if she could have a ride, and that she lived right in town. She offered to give me a few dollars, and said if i felt the need i could check her purse. (?) But anyways, she seemed nice so i said sure.

The first awkard thing was that i drive a regular cab truck, so we were sitting 3 wide, with her in the middle. The next thing, is my truck has a seat cover, and the middle seat belt latch thing was under it. So instead of sitting in the middle with no seatbelt, she felt the need to undue mine, and buckle hers in. Whatever, i dont always wear mine anyway. As we were driving, she was whisper to herself. To me, it sounded like she was counting, but my roommate says he thought she was praying...And finally, she had me drop here off at a house with a for sale sign out front, which looked vacent. Anyways, that was my good dead of the day. End rant

Young hitch hikers taste better than old ones.

I gave a guy a ride from a party store when I was younger. He pointed out his car, said it wouldn't start, he would give me a couple bucks for gas etc. etc. he seemed alright.

Long story short shit ended up getting wierd and when it was said an done I believe I ended up transporting a body carrier to a drug deal. I probably won't be giving any rides any time soon.

cash, grass, or ass no one ride for free. i don't understand that if people can afford to give you some gas money, that means they can usually afford a cab.

Depends where I'm at and who's with me in the car.

I once had a guy come up to me when I was working on my motorcycle. "Big Tony". He asked if he could come inside pray and meditate with us. It was at our ministry house so we said fine. He was a homeless guy, He even admitted it. I've delt with plenty of people like him and really have no problem with talking to them. He eventually wanted to get a ride to a couple places, asked us for money for a train ticket, etc. Took him to the train station to buy his ticket and the station was closed. He still asked for the money, so I (stupidly) gave it to him. We drove around for another 15 min and I eventually let him off at a mall. I later told our campus minister about it and he told me he knew exactly who I was talking about and that he used the exact same 'tactics' on him when he was living in the house. It was an interesting experience but I would have never thought to do it with my Wife and/or Kid with me. In the end I was glad I did it. Even if it was to give this guy somebody to talk to for an hour or so.

The best part was probably the young freshman that was with me. He was quite a bit naive and it was funny to see his reactions to this guy.

I drive a ton for my new job, all over the midwest. I'm not sure if its that I drive 12-1500 miles a week or if there truly are more hitchhikers but I am often tempted but usually don't stop. Its sad to say, but so many people are bat shit crazy. They look fine but you have no idea what they are gong to do once in the vehicle.

I did stop and helped a woman change her tire a couple weeks ago, and I almost stopped to help a guy on a motorcycle who looked like he ran out of gas. I was couldn't get over, and by the time I did I was several miles ahead of him so I let it go.

I picked up younger kid last year on I94. Newer caddy SUV had the hazards on. Dude was walking in flip flops and made it a good ways. I gave him a ride to the gas station at the next exit. Dumbass ran out of gas. I'll help people depending on my judgement. I've helped people push cars off the road if they're car is dead. Most people drive by and leave the one lane all fucked up. I may need help one day.

My brother in law was at a gas station one time and a young girl walks up and asks if he has jumper cables. Sure. My car is on the other side of the gas station & won't start. Will you give me a jump? Sure

He pulls around to the other side of the gas station, gets out and a guy walks up with a gun. Guy says to the girl get outa here. Brother in law gets car jacked.

Nope, won't help a girl either.

She was obviously attractive enough to nail otherwise you would have came up with an excuse or pawned her off to another buddy.

If this were Steveo's thread he would have already nailed her regardless of looks, but would never have given her the ride.

When I was about 16 or 17 my dad and I were driving in my dakota and I seen a hitch hiker and asked my dad if we should stop. He said it was up to me so I did, I told the guy to ride in the back of the truck, I had a topper. The guy took a shit in my spare tire while he was back there and whipped his ass with one of my favorite hoodies.
DONT PICK UP HITCH HIKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
