Default harley guys ! need help evo engine

I'm replacing stock cams on a 2000 buell lightning I have a book for the bike and I line all 4 cams the way they should line up but when the engine rolls over the valves open and touch the pistons they are the same cams the bike has always had so the lift is the same . Does the engine have to be at a specific stroke ?

You could contact Lowlock (here on board), AKA John at ABC Harley. 248.674.3175

He can get you the info you are looking for.

LOL, yes.

*USUALLY*, when you line up timing marks on the camshafts, you want to also have the timing mark on the crank lined up. If you don't have one of those, I can tell you that on all of the single cylinder bikes I've worked on - you want to be at TDC.

Take the cams back out, get to TDC on cylinder #1 and see if you can't find timing marks on the crankshaft somewhere (usually a small plug you unscrew to see the marks).
