I was working in Detroit last spring. I'd say they've got a pretty good head start at burning that place to the ground.

Chad is sooooo right. This is a great example of why Detroit is unsavable. No matter how many businesses move down there or how many billions of dollars are pumped into restoring old buildings that city is a lost cause because the mindset of it's residents is something that can't be fixed.
I can't recall where some of my other detroit rants are at, but at this point detroit isn't even worth a 5 minute detroit rage induced keyboard destruction and babbling post.

Decade after decade Detroit residents have proven they cannot run Detroit. Their corrupt government gets elected time after time. How long did Coleman run? I bet Kwame would still win in an election today. The only mayor I liked was Archer.

They can't/won't do it themselves. Somebody has to do it for them. Why are they so opposed to having somebody take over? The stand up citizens of Detroit should be just as fed up with Detroit as the state is.

Snyder has made some tough decisions to turn the state around and people bitched.

Bing has tried to make some tough decisions to turn the city around and he has been beat on for it.

Imagine if a President actually tried to make some tough decisions to turn our country around...wow.

So "white supremecy" means, to him, the government and the banks and all the things that have hurt detroit, none of which, are the people that live there and have stolen from and pilliaged the city for so many years many of which were not white. Makes perfect sense.

This is a really sick situation. I had a State Representative tell me that the failure of Detroit will impact the entire State. I think Detroit failed decades ago!

The city keeps sending me notices that a duplex I still own in the city will be sold at a sheriff sale because I haven't paid taxes on it in a few years.

I keep telling them to sell it already. They can have it.

And to think I turned down a 50k+ offer for the house 10 or so years ago.

Hell with that city.

But seriously- this is ridiculous. Cut them off. They don't want help, don't help them. No more state and Fed money. Let it sink. Too bad the rest on Michigan is tied so tightly to Detroit that it will drag the whole state down with it.
I may be wrong, but I think the real problem is this...if Detroit goes bankrupt, the State of Michigan has to cover the bills.

I believe that is the case.

Maybe carpet bombing is the answer.

There is talk that the State is hesitant to take over Detroit in fear of violent demonstrations.

Kentucky Fried Movie is one of the few movies I actually own.

The rest of the state is not tied to Detroit anymore. That ended a long time ago. Unless you are referring to the rest of us needing help spending our money and keeping the welfare pool drained, then we need help from Detroit.

The big 3 can only carry a major city for so long.

Do you think that Canada would buy Detroit from us
?
