5.4L compared to BBF

how does the dimensions of a 5.4L (say 00 f150 for example) compare to a 460 or 428 or similar? Bought a 70 Torino which came with 428's (not mine). So I know a BBF will fit. But I would like to do a 5.4L triton with a 4r100. Was curious how they compared to each other size wise. I know the triton motors are damn wide but unclear how they compare. Also any possible links anybody has regarding swapping a triton motor into another vehicle would be cool. Been camped out at the computer searching google like crazy.

Don't do it. Don't ruin a classic with a junk triton. That's just my thought. I have a 71 torino with a 429 and it's very tight. I believe the triton is wider. I installed the bbf in mine and had to do away with the power brake booster. The valve cover would hit it. Get a 385 series for it. Besides it makes much more power.

I don't have power brakes or p/s steering at the moment lol. I don't want a race car. But a reliable cruiser. I find the 5.4L's (other then shooting spark plugs from cyl. 3) to be very reliable motors. And I kinda wanna do something different. I could put a 6.0L chevy in it

why not build up the 302 a little, and efi it? you can get power from a 302, and you already have it? parts a re a dime a dozen for them. just a thought.

the mod motors are too wide to swap in there i would think. it would be a bitch to work on if you ever had too.

the only good mod motor is the 6.8L! go big or go home!

I would get a donor truck for the 5.4L. Those seem easy enough to find in a 97-00 f150 2wd and cheap enough. The 6.8L donor truck would be quite the step up in cost etc.

A 6.8 for sure would never fit. Give me a few and I'll measure my brothers f 150 and my shock towers.
