Got a little start on another aspect to the project. I got the points ditched and the 2 barrel carb and 200 lb intake . 600 or 650 cfm edelbroc and performer 289 intake along with duraspark ignition.......only cost was the fluids and gaskets. Still need to dial in timing and clean up the wiring as well as mount an air cleaner and throttle brackets. But it starts and runs , so much smoother with the decent ignition.

My car was night and day switching from points to a dura spark.

It was also night and day switching from a dura spark to a msd dist.

I pigeon holed myself into buying all the fun stuff for a 302 and now won't pull the trigger on a 408.

You might get to the point that you may be happy with the eddy carb and the dura spark. If it becomes reliable, don't screw with it. Just enjoy it with the family and drive it.

Yeah, my old 63 fairlane was points in the 302 that was in it. What a difference just replacing that distributor made.

My steering column is messed up and it won't stay in park, something is messed up in the locking mechanism in the column itself. I ordered a B&M shifter Friday at 3pm from summit, it was delivered to me by 11am Saturday.

I also mounted the driver seat so I could easily get it in and out of the garage. Picked up a new upper radiator hose, but I had to get the lower hose from out of state.

Ok, here it is. It had a 351C, and the car had just shy of 100k miles. I wish I could share other pictures of it - minus the faded original paint, it was in amazing condition. Factory AC that worked. Can you believe I sold it in 1999 or 2000 for $1400 bucks? I had to pay off a small loan for a 90 5.0 LX.. I certainly regret that!

Just prior to selling..

When we brought it home, circa 96'

Nice car.

Ordered my other floor pans today from Rockauto, apparently rockauto sells the same manufactured floor pans as some of the resto company's, but at almost half the price . Wish I would of learned that before I ordered the other pans. Hoping to get some work started on it this week so I can get the floor buttoned up and move on to other aspects.

What did you ever figure out for sound proofing/heat insulation for the floors?

Not cut up yet, I need to pull that dash to get access to replace the LF toe board. But I needed to keep the car mobile so I could that cougar in/out. Now that is done I will get the dash out.

Seems that lizard skin stuff is what is the hot ticket right now.

So I ordered a lower Radiator hose for the torino as the one on the car is a universal then attached to another hose. Major cobble job. Well after doing a minute of research I have come to the conclusion that I have the wrong water pump on the car.

I should have a drivers outlet water pump but instead have a pass side outlet, WTF? hmm, thinking I should drop the starter and inspect the block id number. 69 5.0's were a pass outlet, when I had my intake off I found 69' date codes on the heads. Thinking I may have a 69 or older motor possibly.

Floorboards just about done...

LR

LF

Mount the seats, which will require some fab since I am missing some brackets to the floor. Then mount my B&M shifter. Then tear them all back out, clean 100% of the floor, then seal it and order my floor insulation and carpet.

Looking through the glove box in the torino, it still had the owners manual in it, along with receipts from a muffler shop in Athens, TN for susp work in 2002. Mileage was the same that day as what it says today. Crawled under and the speedo cable was broken at the trans. Guess it has more then the 108K the odometer states.

Used eastwoods seam sealer on the seams and Painted the floor with Eastwood Rust Encapsulator. Having used both the eastwood stuff and por-15, por-15 seems like a better product. The eastwood stuff sseemed pretty thin while por was a bit thicker and more like syrup then water like eastwood. Hoping to do the trunk tomorrow.

But fyi, its cheaper to buy both products from ebay they from the actual company's website. Even buying it from the company through ebay is cheaper and you can get free shipping lol. I bought all the stuff about $40 cheaper overall through Jegs on ebay.

Well got the right water pump on it so it is on the right side of the motor for the rad. hose.

Also got the disc swap done..

Drove it a little bit, I def. need shocks and need to hook up the vacumn to the trans, really didnt wanna up shift. Wont power brake, but will burn 1 tire from a stop. Kinda surprised with the 2.73 gears. Soon to be 3.73 or 4.10 L/S 8.8. But i do still need to play the ign. timing.
