Default "What's your bottom dollar"?

My bottom dollar is the amount that I decide is close enough to my asking price that I accept the offer. Why do people ask such stupid questions? When people are selling something they post an asking price. You are supposed to in turn decide for yourself if their asking price is in the vicinity of what you would pay for it. At this point you can a) move along and find one a bit cheaper, or b) pm that person a reasonable offer that you would be comfortable paying. From there, the seller will tell you if you need to go higher or if your offer is close enough. See how easy that works? Don't start out the conversation with "What's your bottom dollar?" 9 times out if 10 the seller is trying to get as much as they feel is reasonable!

My response, "my asking price is listed, clearly you have zero negotiating skills, let be help you, the next step is for you to make a REASONABLE offer. From there I can gushed how serious you are about buying and can counter or accept your offer, but as of now its no longer for sale, thanks for taking the time to drive over and look at the item."

Im like Joshua cripe I only sell to people I like.

I do agree with what's been said. How ever I've dealt with several people who all have said they started with their price very high to negotiate down to what they wanted.... That also deters serious buyers away with a crazy high price. If I find something I want with a high price I'll ask them before I waste my time and theirs what their reasonable price is. I've spent several hundred dollars driving around in the past year and half looking at trucks to find out their are over priced junk! If they are reasonable on the price I would be more inclined to buy them.

Basically asking what's the bottom dollar is isn't always a bad thing. They could come out and waste all day bullshiting with you and have no interest in it, or call and ask bottom dollar and burn up a 5 minute phone call. But it has to be wisely and not a cheap ass sorta speak way.

Any time you list something for sale online regardless of price point you will get people who will offer 1/4-1/2 of what your asking. I hate that. If im asking 75 for an item im might take 60 but im not gonna sell it for 30. i would rather someone ask whats the lowest ill go. I will tell them and if the still try to get it cheaper then conversation is over.

Completely agree. Why would I tell you what the least amount I would take. At that point, common sense would say that that is what you're going to offer, or wait until I drop it down that far. What's even worse, is when they ask that question when the price is followed by the word FIRM.

I usually either ignore it or respond with a higher dollar value than I am asking if they persist.

I don't mind the low offers, but at least come up with a f'n number.

Prices here are jacked, I list things way high because everybody here wants something for nothing... "whats your bottom dollar" says "I don't really want to pay for this."
K8whitecj8 drove me nuts when she would post "I'd love to have this." In almost every Damn forsake thread.

Unfortunately, I deal with this exact scenario on a daily basis. We offer our cars at a fair market value and in some cases below market value.

It never fails that you can have the best deal around and people will still try to offer some insane lowball offer.
