Default tire and rim sizing

Hey guys I'm looking to get a 1996 xj with a 3 inch lift. The guy is keeping his rims and tires, he's got 33s and it ran fine with them. I'm looking to get 33s for it with some cragar soft 8s. I wasn't sure on the sizing I should do for ordering rims and tires. The dunlop mud rovers look like a good choice to get. I wasn't sure the dimensions I should get.. 10 in wide rim fit with 12.5 in tires or what.. or any other help with a good tires and sizes to get would be appreciated

IMHO, if you're gonna drive it on the road, i would go with a little narrower tire, like a 10.5, on an 8" rim. I personally felt they were a little less sketch in snow/slush/rain than a wider tire on a light vehicle. even a 32x11.5 would be better. BFG makes a 33x10.5 km2 for $20 more than the dunlop 33x12.5. just my thoughts, lots of people run 12.5 and are happy. wheels width ain't a big deal, i ran 15x10 for a lot of years with no problems aired down or anything. i think it looks a little better than an 8" rim.

33x12.5-15 on a 15x8 wheel would be about perfect.
