Default humvee bodies...

http://www.4x4bodies.com/models--pricing.html

anyone around here ever build humvee style?

most people are fans of humvee's. especially me. ya they might be over rated but i love them. my army buddy tells me they are slow turds. but i think it would be sweet to get a doner truck and put a humvee body on it. like a powerstroke or a duramax.

they might be expensive and not worth the pain but what do you guys think.

To me they look like some sort of harbor freight, Chinese knock off of a Humvee. Not a fan at all.

They built one on Xtrem4x4 a while back. I think they put it on an 80's Burban chassis.

I believe GM build them with a Duramax in the last year or so of producing the Hummer. Was under the Alphi line of the H1.

true, but a powerstroke or a duramax isnt like a fiero. it's not a real humvee, but could still be fun to play with. especially for someone who doesnt have 30k to drop on a real one. 7-10k for the body and 1-2k for a doner truck and 1-2k for extras. 10-15k for a nice "humvee" look a like. a lot of people spend that on there lifted trucks all day. instead of having the same lifted jeep as the other guy, this could be different

Fiero's are not POS's, but body kits are. Nobody drives a stock Jeep and expects it to be
"End All" 4x4, and the Fiero requires a few mods to make it the machine that it has potential to be. One properly set up will hang with all the factory built go fast cars. Anyone that believes other needs to head to Milan for the Fiero club of Mi's annual meet.

Where are you finding doner Duramax trucks for 1-2k?

All military Humvee's are supposed to go to scrap or used as parts... i don't know if the public has gotten ahold of any though

A few have leaked out, I think by the Marines. Not sure how that happened and if it ever happened again.

I know of at least one in private hands.

The body kits are pretty lame for what you get IMO. Some kit cars are nice, I don't think you get your money's worth with this one.
