Default hp dana 30 ?

I am in the middle of replacing the bearings & seals in my hp30.

The pinion oil baffle didn't want to come out very easy and I cannot find a local parts store that can get one. My question is since I don't see the baffle listed in any of the master install kits, is this baffle important? can I just measure it's thickness and add the appropriate amount of shims in it's place?

This was actually under the inner pinion race, I now see I can get one from 4WD.com for $1.99 but will have to pay 3x that for shipping.

yes you can just use shims, but if you want to put one back in I will send you one for the price of shipping.

I appreciate the offer but I'll just throw shims in instead, I have new shim pack sitting on my bench already. Thanks for the info.
