Default Ford diesel opinions please.....

Currently looking at replacing my V-10 stupidduty with a newer diesel. There's a lot out there with what I want but I dont know what I want for the diesel itself. What are the pros and cons with the 6.0 and 6.4? Thanks....

BTW, I've already heard all the BS comments about Cummins and Duramax. I'm sticking with a Ford.

LOL, Busted! It's a 2000 F-250 Crew Lariat with 8" lift and 38's. Bastard burped a plug out last weekend heading up to the UP for a sledding trip. It pissed me off and I'm not going to trust it any more.

why did you need a new motor?

personally, I wouldn't go back to the 7.3L. The 2005 newer trucks are just that much better all around.

With the price of diesel fuel, I would buy a 3 valve V10 over any diesel right now though, unless you lived in the truck and made your money towing.

I have a 7.3 and I'm telling you your on crack if you think the 6.0 or newer motors are better... I have a few ford mechanics in my family and others that work in parts and sales.
The 6.0 is the most repaired and replaced diesel motor that ever came in a ford truck. They are junk. Can't let them idle too long. And all the new junk had all the emissions on it. I have a 7.3 on 40" tires that gets 20mpg all day. I've also had a v10 and an a 5.4 and they both got 10mpg..

6.0 and 6.4 have the same basic problems. You will want to do exhaust, intake and programmer to get it to pull out of the hole. You'll also want to do an EGR delete for durability. On the 6.4 you'll want to get rid of the particulate filter as well. Once this is done they are great engines.
