Default Trick to getting the allen bolt out of a power steering pulley?

This thing reversed thread?

I have the pulley locked with a c-clamp, but I can't turn that allen bolt out of there

inside that allen you will find that the hole is tapped. You need a PS pulley puller installer kit. You will damage it if you try to press it out. Murray's right down the road should have the puller/installer.

I was going to say they don't have bolt on pullys. they are pressed on and off.

ok, thanks. I know they are usually pressed on, but normally there isn't an allen head on the shaft.

why would they have that allen in there? What would be the point?

I believe that is for when they install the shaft to the impellor/rotor in the pump itself.

hmm.

Well, I just got back from a junkyard. I have the whole conversion kit for a serp belt now.. Summit sells them for 269 a set.

I just bought a set for 40 bucks.. And since the guy coudn't get the allen head out that holds the power steering pulley on (:tonka:), he gave me the whole pump for the same price. :tonka:

So I'm not the only idiot
