Default AMC Motors (304 and 290) SOLD SOLD SOLD

Have two AMC motors for sale. These came with a project I bought. Going with a 360, so I wont be needing these. P/O removed the 304 from the jeep and was going to replace it with the 290. Its my understanding that the 290 had a little more horsepower.

The 304 ran when it was removed, and is very complete, although its been sitting awhile and would need to be re-sealed, and cleaned up. it has 75,000 miles on it, and is from a 1975 cj5. Would like to see $250 obo for this since it is complete with all the accs. 304 IS SOLD

The 290 has had all new bearings, and been freshened up. Has a nice older Offy intake on it. I dont know much more about this motor, other than the P/O said it was a good motor, and I have no reason not to believe him. He is a very honest guy, and states all the facts when you do a deal with him. $300 obo

Cheers, Keith. 734 55eight 89nine8

Back up. The parts on these motors are worth the asking price.

I'll part these if there are parts you need. Let me know.

$200 and I'm keeping the intake.

I got my new motor this week, and need the space. Come get it, then you can paint it a different color and re-sell it for more

Hey Keith,
Are the engine pics with the offy intake, the 290 ? If YES, then it has had later dog-leg heads swapped onto it. 290's had the square exhaust port heads only.

Yes it is, and thanks for the info. I'm sure it will be useful for someone that wants this motor. Is there an advantage/dis-advantage to the swap?

Advantage is they are better flowing heads and you can use the more common dog-leg style headers that are available (i.e. for installing into a Jeep) It also lowers the compression for pump Unleaded gas.

Disadvantage ... it lowers compression, which drops HP by about 20 from the 290's ratings.
