I don't think I have ever had a return that exceeded $150...that's state and federal combined. Last year I broke even on federal and owed the state $5

My wife works 2 days a week right now, so yes (her 6 months income isn't much). And I am adding it to what I have saved

It just goes into the bank.

If you are responsible with your money a sudden increase of capital should not be cause to go out and buy something.

Our tax return is usually larger than it should be. Their is no way for me to know how much our yearly income will be. I have had to send in some $7500 checks to Federal in the past which I do not like to do.

If I get a large return back from claiming a loss on the income, I always buy something that is a farm cost expenditure, that is also personally usefull. Last year it was a large trailer, for hauling a tractor and equipment, that would also be big enough to haul two jeeps if you wanted to.

The year before that it was a farm disk and a loader tractor. The tractor could be usefull for plowing the snow in the drive way.

2011 will be depreciation of a pole barn for 20 years.

I believe I will buy a cattle trailer this year with what ever I get back.

I make sure don't get tax returns. Fuck loaning the government money interest-free.

As long as your caught up on bills and your debt is paid, whats it matter? Especially when there is enough to buy some ish and nest away a lot in the bank.

I agree that loaning the gov interest free money is ftl, but I'm not going to change my w-2 every time I'm on a long distance, long term job either.

Usually dump it in my IRA each yr but I just lost my job and we have contracts with wedding services that have to paid off before April. So most likely most of it will be paying them off..

Oh wait am I supposed to make a thread asking people for handouts to pay for my wedding.. or should I post all over FB like our friends do asking for donations?

Me too.

Anybody ever kept $0 in the bank and owed thousands and got on a payment plan with them?

I'm wondering if they charge you interest because if they don't I wouldn't mind stringing them along for the year.
