Default My other hobby :)

Well i have taken a few years out of the hobby, had a few more things to focus on and get straightened out in my life. Well here it is back up and running 29 Gallon saltwater!

Equipment- 1-DIY bottle filter, 1- Reef Octo. Skimmer, 2- 270GPH powerheads, 2- 130GPH power heads, 2- bulb T5 H/O light system, 1-Heater

Livestock- 1- Firefish, 1- Blue Damsel, 1- Green Chromis, 1- Camel Shrimp, 6- Snails

Corals- ALOT of Green Striped Mushrooms, Purple Mushrooms, Green & Blue Palys, Kenya Trees, and another rock covered with a name i dont know lol.

The stand is home made, my Uncle had made it out of Teak Wood years upon years ago. We just recently made a hinged lid for the top i mounted my lights and ballast inside to clean up over all look of the tank. Sorry about the crappy pictures... Enjoy.

Pics-

I've always been interested in salt water tanks but was told they are expensive. How much does a setup like that run? then how much does the livestock in it run?

This setup has costed me around $250, only because i reused all my old stuff from my other tank. There really not that bad it all depends on what kid of tank your wanting to build. F/O is your cheapest witch is fish only, FOWLR ( Fish only with live rock ) Your second cheapest then my setup is Mixed Reef. The Lights, LR, and Skimmer are your most exspensive. And live stock is priced depending on the species you want to inhabit your tank.

Nice start. I have checked you pics on Michiganreefers also. The saltwater is addicting. I now have a 34 gallon saltwater cube in my dinning room. A 125 gallon reef in my living room and a 55 gallon fish only tank in my bedroom.

WOW thats alot of tanks, yes they are very addicting. I took alot of time out and did alot more studying and looked at various diff. setups to really get into depth of what i wanted to restart with. This has had me pretty happy so far little algea issues here and there but nothing major.

IMO if you wanted easy setup not to big i would go with a Biocube there very nice tanks and have all hidden filtration in the rear of the tank and come equiped with the lights you need to start your reef just got to wait for the cycle and enjoy from there.
