Default 1988 GMC Stepside - ROLLER - Holland - update on page 2

Please read the whole ad. This is not a complete truck but a second truck can be purchased to cover most of the missing parts.

The 42's are not included. There will be no motor, trans, Tcase, driveshafts, steering box, or radiator. Roller only. There is no title to this truck. The original owner is not willing to provide the title. See below for more options that could come with.

More pics can be found here (white truck is not for sale):

http://s1000.photobucket.com/albums/...lt1yj/4x4pics/

Some info and history on this truck. It is a one owner and has been wheeled it's entire life. Lots of trail rides, lots of mud, Moab a few times, Pipeline, etc. She's not a virgin, and not pristine, but for the amount of wheeling she's done she's in very good condition. No panels have been replaced and it's still wearing the original paint.

The front axle is an HP60. There will be no gears or carrier in it. I'm taking them for my next build.

Rear axle is a 14 bolt with disk brakes and working parking brake. This will have either a 3.73 or 4.10 gear set with a gov loc from a 2002 14 bolt.

Custom built super tight front and rear bumpers set up for the included 10K hydraulic winch. There are hydraulic lines that run from the front to the rear with quick couplers so the winch can be run on either end. The winch has a quick connect cradle with two 2" receivers to keep it quiet on the trail. The winch can be run from an in cab controller or pulled in at the winch.

The suspension is a combination of Superlift 6" soft rides and some stock leaf packs and has about 5" of uptravel and ~10" of droop. May be more droop. This will ramp 1100 on a 23 degree ramp. There are Rancho RS9000's on all 4 corners.

The body is in pretty good shape with some rust through on the cab corners and a little on the drivers side rocker along with the inside lip of the doors. There are dings, dents scrapes, scratches on all panels and a few cracks in the fiberglass bedsides. There are tubs in the bed.

Did I mention this will clear 44" boggers as it sits?

Interior is mostly stock and used. There is a small rip in the drivers seat and the steering column is worn. A full cage is tucked inside and a CB is included.

So basically a complete body, frame, suspension, HP dana 60 front, 14 bolt rear, 10K hydraulic winch setup, and roll bar.

Price is $2500. I will include a stock power steering gear box with the truck.

I also have a really nice set of 36x12.5-16 radial swampers mounted on steel soft 16's that I'll include for $750, and a NP241 with a 32 spline input shaft for an additional $200.

The motor, tires/rims, gears and lockers are going in my next project and are not for sale. The trans is already gone and on it's way to Canada. I will not part this out so please do not ask for parts.

Finally, my dad is getting rid of his very rusty 1994 GMC short bed fleet side. He's asking $1250 for his truck with a nice running 305, 4L60E and NP241 Tcase. His truck comes with a title and would make a great donor to get this truck on the road.

What's the story on the previous owner refusing to give up the title?

He thinks he could have some liability for the modified front suspension since he fabricated the parts and did the welding himself. He doesn't want it on the road to limit that liability. He's not concerned with it being offroad only. Personally, I think he's paranoid.

I've wheeled with this truck since 1993 and this truck flat out works. It was built by a Mechanical Engineer that was also a professional snowmobile racer in the 80's and 90's. We would drive this truck 400 miles, wheel hard for two days in Northern Wisconsin or the UP, then drive it back home. I can only recall two times we had issues and one was a broken stub shaft on Widow Maker in Moab and the other was a hole poked in the oil pan on a trail in the UP when I got my Jeep stuck.

I'm building a 2 door Tahoe for a family trail rig and picked this one up for the Gen VI 454, PSC steering setup, 5.13's, ARB, Detroit and the tires. I actually considered swapping my body to this frame and just shorten it to fit but I'm already a good way into the SAS conversion on the Tahoe.

I would be more than happy to leave the axles alone if the new owner wanted to provide the lockers and gears instead. Then it would just be swapping in a powertrain, tires, and steering system into this truck and have an awesome wheeler.

I forgot to say this suspension has been on the truck in various forms since 1995. His was one of the earliest straight axle swaps that I personally saw, and one of the cleanest. It's been "customized" since then to try out new springs and different tires.

I'd consider building new spring hangers for the front since these have been modified so many times over the years. I can do that for the new owner pretty reasonably. I have the files in CAD and can get them laser burned and can weld them up in an evening. I may even have some of the parts left over from the last one I did.

If you look closely, this truck sits low. IIRC it's 6' 10" to the top of the cab on 42's. Low CG, great for crawling and great in the mud.

Not parting at this time. I will consider parting if this isn't sold as a complete truck. It would be a real shame to part it out because this is great wheeler and could be put back together very quickly.

Will consider trades for 40"+ tires, 14 bolt ARB, 1998 or newer 4L80E, guns, or ? Not into stereo, paintball, or RC.

I've had a couple people ask what I'll sell it for without the axles and/or winch setup.

Truck without axles and shocks but with the winch: $1250
Truck without axles and without winch/bumpers : $900

I'm pulling the engine wiring harness and computer but can provide a stock harness from a '92 K1500 for a 350 to go along with it. All other wiring on the truck is in working condition and will go with the truck.

They're pretty wipped, probably not worth moving to another truck.

I've had a few questions about leaving the gears and lockers in the axles, so here's the deal. Everything can stay together if the buyer provides Arb's for the 60 front and 14 bolt rear and 5.38's for both. I already have setup kits for both.

I will have the motor out this week and will start pulling the axles aart next week.
