Had a lady bring in a Silverado once because "it was clunking for about a week, and now the brakes feel weird".

She had worn through the friction surface of the rotor to the point where the remaining disc portion separated from the "hub" portion of the brake rotor. The brake pads were MIA, and the caliper piston was gone. Not worn, not broken... gone.

When we returned the truck, it was noted on the bill to "turn the radio down and don't wait so long to fix noises next time".

Does my brother know where you live? This sounds just like him. I'm going to start sending him your way. He drinks VERY GOOD beer and shares.

Free take home vehicle for a guy I know of....

The vehicle and rims are SUPPOSED to be silver. It had been driven so long like this that the metal dust etched into the rim and entire rear body of the vehicle. Again a case of "it just started making the noise."

That's happened on two chevy's I've had, my uplander and an s-10 blazer I had. The noise lasted about 2 weeks in both cases. I knew what it was but didn't have the money to repair when it started. The bolts that the caliper slides on rusted and the caliper was just pushing on one brake pad.
