Default axle choice

i am going to swap a boneyard axle into my 1989 k5 but i want to do a disc brake swap while i am at it so i am going to go with a 2003 truck axle so i dont have to do any of the work both the axles i am looking at are 14 bolts full floaters but one is a 11.5 ring gear and the oter is a 10.5 ring gear. i know plenty about 10.5 and how strong they are so i am confident about that but i havent heard anything about a 11.5 how do they hold up are they a good or bad axle btw both axles are the same price so price doesnt matter. i just want to know if the 11.5 is better than the 10.5 and when they say they have a locker in them because they both do does that mean a gov lock or does gm actually put a locker in their axles.

The 11.5 uses the same shafts as the 10.5 so no real strength gain. If you find a dodge power wagon 10.5 they have a electric locker and 4:56 gears otherwise they only have a gov lock ie posi diff

There is better aftermarket support for the Corporate 14 Bolt (10.5" ring gear).

There is support for the AAM 11.5, just not as much.

i know i was looking at your website today i think i will buy a set of ring and pinion for the 10.5 and either a 44 or 60 and a locker for the 14 detroit but another think i was looking at is will a 16 15 or 16.5 fit on a newer chevy disc brake axle cause i know newer dodges cant have less than 17s
