Default Ray-C in Lapeer Sucks

Took the sons go-kart wheels up to the local tire place to get new ones mounted he got for his birthday. They were unable to get the new ones mounted because their machine would not go small enough. they were nice enough not to charge me anything for dismounting. Went next door to Ray C motor cycle shop because they also work on ATVs. My fault for not asking first but they raped me $50 for mounting 2 little go kart tires. What a bunch of crooks! Cheap bastards didn't even install new valve stems!

So if going to Ray C's be sure to take your check book and lots of vaseline!

end rant

This.

You should have asked first, then walked when they told you $50. Once they had them mounted they had your tires as hostage for you to pay.

Where did you buy the tires? I know a lot of times they charge extra if you bring in tire that aren't from them. At my work we give a discount for press work if you but the parts from us, if you buy them from another auto parts store you pay full price.

Shoot me a pm next time - I'd be happy to do it for free to see a kid have a go cart.

They are if you've never done them and don't have everything you need to do it right - and in general - the smaller the diameter, the more difficult. Hardest tires I've dealt with to date has been some little 17" dirtbike tires.

I bought a changing stand, some good levers and now it is much better. Sometimes a pain, but never impossible.

I emailed that guy to stop posting 400 posts on craigslist selling new sleds, because he was literally posting 50-60 a day and it made it impossible to look through the threads.

The owner emailed me back giving me his cell phone number saying if I had a "problem" with him, he would meet me anywhere to settle it.

its the cost of doing business, the fact of the matter is you should have asked a price up front and walked if you had a problem with it. then you could have wasted 20 dollars in gas and 3 hours of your time driving around to find a place to do it cheaper and payed 30 dollars.

Do you regularly have things done by other people without asking how much it is going to cost?

Yeah no shit there's a difference, shifter kart tires are smaller side wall and stiffer and harder to dismount and mount, so depending on the size of the go kart tire, they are more like lawn and garden tires which we do all the time..and therefore not charge $50 like ray c's the guy with the shifter kart came to my shop cuz ray c's was expensive and we were a lot cheaper, he changes his tires almost every race or 2,

I fought with them for a an hour. only succeeded in dent the rims a little. I know my bad for not asking first. Was frustrated and trying to make the kid happy. Just wanted it done. Knew it would be cost more there but was only expecting $20 or so seeing how dismount was already done. and maybe some 50 cent new valve stems.

I always ask first, this was 1 in a 1000 I didn't and it bit me in the butt. made this post to vent and as a lesson to all the youngsters out there.

I'll go to Rowley's next time, thanks for the heads up.
