This confused me...
Quote:
The shooting happened during first period at the school in Brownsville, a city at Texas' southern tip just across the Mexican border.
So how did this happen in Texas? Looks like it happened in Mexico.

According to google maps (which I am sure is 100% accurate.) Brownsville is about 1000 ft give or take, north of the mexican border.

The only bad part about this shooting is the fact that a LEO had to take the life of a child. Something they will have to live with the rest of their life. When a good friend of mine was in Iraq and had to shoot back at 12 year olds to defend himself it scared him for life. A threat is a threat. But it still sucks.

So is it clear if this was a US officer/US child, or does Mexican police not cover their area?

After the LA bank robberies and the current thugs with flack jackets trend, there are many agencies spending a bit more range time on anti-body armour (head/pelvis) shots. And after the Columbine massacre cops justifiably don't give a crap how old you are, do anything but drop the gun in an active shooter situation and you die.

Fire until the threat is eliminated, not suppressed. Suppression by definition is temporary. You don't want a temporary situation when dealing with a threat of deadly force.
This.

Sir, why did you fire 8 shots into the intruder? My gun doesn't hold 9.

More bull shit! I demand proof. Its pretty simple, if it is across the border it is Mexico, not Texas.

A word was omitted. It was meant to say "across from the".

However, it reads correctly if you happened to be standing in Mexico while reading the article.

No shit. Instead, this will all be spun back onto the cops and it will be the "system's" fault.

I thought a double tap at center of mass followed by a more precise head shot was what many training centers taught. Would be perfect display of proper procedure. I see nothing wrong here.
