Agreed, but I'm sure the media will have a field day with that one.

Point a gun (real or fake) at a cop. Get shot! End of story.
Sorry he had to die, but there is a price for such actions.

they did what was needed sad yes but needed. There was a kid at the park that was shooting ducks and geese hell whatever he wanted. The tip of his 22 was painted orange, so you never know what the weapon will be Real or Fake.

Yep. In the article the father wanted to know why they didn't just fire a shot to take him down. Taking him down doesn't guarantee he will not shoot back.

The interviewer should have countered with, "Why didn't you do a better job raising your child so this didn't even happen."

It isn't just that. It is more about one shot being insufficient to knock someone down in the first place. It is possible for a bullet to pass through soft tissue with minimal resistance and thhe target not only remain standing, but retain a significant amount of combat effectiveness.

Fire until the threat is eliminated, not suppressed. Suppression by definition is temporary. You don't want a temporary situation when dealing with a threat of deadly force.

Essentially what I meant. If it's ever him or me, and I hope it never is, I will be making sure he is not going to fire back, whatever that requires.

Why teachers and lunch ladies should carry. Trained cops can't be everywhere.

Also if a cop shoots to wound or is intentionally trying to be less than lethal that would open up an argument that guns were not needed in the first place if less than lethal was the goal.

A cop has to shoot to kill.
