what tires you guys pushing on a 4.9

i aquired a 95 f150 4.9 5spd 4x4 and i plan to swap a 79 dana 44 in it soon and im trying to get an idea how big of tires with the right gears will be able to still do 75 on the freeway. i made the mistake on my last solid axle ranger with a 2.3 and 35s with 4;56s and it could barely get out of its own way and could barely hit 70 in 4th and 5th was useless because it would just bog down. so inj the end i never wanted to take it anywhere offroad because i dont have the patience to have the pedal to the floor and doing 65mph. on the f150 i am wanting to go somewhere between 35-40 12.50 mts. so is there anyone out there with a lifted 4.9 that has some reviews?

I am running a mildly built 300-6 (4.9). I am spinning 32x11.5 with 3.08's. I have a NP435 so I start in second gear with no problem (3.34:1). The trans that you have is the M5ODR2. This is a weak point in the drive line. The ratios are 1st 3.90:1, 2nd 2.25:1, 3rd 1.46:1, 4th 1.00:1, 5th 0.80:1 and as you will notice that reverse is stupid high. Currently at 70 mph I am spinning 2200 with a 1:1 4th gear. The truck originally had that same trans and I had no problem pushing 75-80 with 235/75R15, just didn't do it often. My truck will move if I want it to as it sits right now. One thing you might want to consider is getting a NP 435 or T-18 with the lower first gears 6.69 and 6.32 respectively you can get moving and keep a high rear gear set to keep MPG up with you desired tire size.
