Would you mind shareing your story and the total cost of shipping, how long it took to make contacts to get it to your door. Very nice find and even better that you brought to Michigan.

Found this on the scrambler board which someone linked from alaska4x4network.com. It was for sale for a little while and the guy really wasn't having any bites on it. We gave him what he was asking for it since he was pretty much basement price anyway. We were lucky he lived in anchorage and was more than willing to help ship. I contacted wrightway auto carries along with half a dozen others to get pricing. Wrightway did door drop service and was second cheapest so we went with them. From the time of verbal agreement on buying it to the time of actually getting it here was around 6-8 weeks if
I remember right. Shipping was $2150 in sept/oct 2006. It went by cargo container out of port on a ocean freighter to Sea/Tac. Then on a car hauler to here.

Well, after messing all summer on trying to get it running, a low mile 232 was purchased as a donor as was set into place tonight. Final bolting and wiring hookup to be this Saturday morning. Then have to figure out the loose steering. On insurance for another month yet...so might get a little driving time yet this year.

out of curiosity, why did you decide to remove all the foam? the last time i was in one of these, i was pleasantly surprised at how quiet and warm the interior was, i assumed it was due to the foam. i was highly considering foaming the inside of my cj-7. i decided to wait till i get a new body on it though.

This is on insurance from aprilish-novemberish. No need for insulation. The weight of it makes a difference in the way it handles on cornering. Also wife has allergies and who knows what that 23 year old foam has harbored in it.

With any wind whatsoever, bits and pieces of the foam fly all around the cab and they feel like little spiked balls when they get in your eyes.

The stuff is evil.

I knew I recognized that. I drove past it daily for the last 2 years. Always wanted to stop and check it out. Didn't know it was RHD, very nice.

just a couple pics showing what it looks like at the moment. Steering is better than it was last spring, but still too loose for my liking. Got the rear door rebuilt, side patched, and drivers floor done at a local shop last spring already. Things turned out alright. Motor is now a low mile 232, but with stock gearing it is a bit or a dog in the power dept.

When we got it...

Door now..
