Default exhaust advice

Hey I was wonderin if anyone had any suggestions for exhaust. I have a 91 ford with a swapped out 460 I was going to run straight out 3 inch duals right now it is run 3 inch to under the cab but then a friend of mine told me with a stick it is good to have some back pressure so I was wonder if I should run a foot long 2inch or 2.5 inch section on both or just stick with the 3 inch? I have Like no money to spend on this so mufflers aren't an option.

Thanks any opinions are appreciated .

I've never had an issue due to lack of BP. I run 3" on everything I own. An engine is just a big air pump. more flow in / more flow out and vise versa.

The only back pressure that should be there is right at the exhaust manifold or header. That small amount is there so that you don't burn exhaust valves.

Maybe someone will chime in on the need for some, but I've never had an issue with it from carbed to injected motors.

You might want to find some sort of muffler. My tow rig has a 460 with 2.5" pipe and mufflers and it is rather loud, especially when the secondaries are open. I am changing it soon to quiet it down considerably. Without mufflers on a BB you might get some unwanted attention from LEO as well. Thrush welded mufflers are only $35 ea, and sound pretty good as well.

Strait pipes are for fagots that are compensating. You might as well put upright headers through the hood so you can be king of the mud bog, but I don't want to hear your god damm truck every time you drive by.

nope, K5s are all solid axle in the front (unless 2wd) and XJ's are all solid axles

The manifolds should create all the backpressure needed. Mufflers would be nice too.
