Oh well then you still wont be able to turn 2 wd does not help at all when welded. Your still turning both front tires at the same speed no matter what.

Make sure your shafts are phased (lined up) when building your front axle or you will never turn

Picked up the 78-79 shafts i needed last night and dropped the housing off at the machine shop....i was gonna swap it myself but for what it will cost to have it done i can't justify messing with it.

Been making a list:

Front: shooting for 31.5 spring width....axle mounts will likely have be custom, atleast on the passenger side, i am reusing my front hanger and modding it since it would be a giant pita ass to remove it, using sky's offset shackles and stock frame mounts, buy some shock tabs and reuse current upper hoop mount

Rear: sky spring mounts set to current width, shock tabs, reuse everything else.

Brakes:

Stock ford front stuff, ruffstuff rear bolt on disc conversion brackets and buy brake components local, reuse current hoses and adapt as necessary.

Steering:

Keep at stock height till i can afford better knuckles, hydro assist using current tapped box and tsc ram, fab mounts.

Drive shafts: high angle and sky both make 60 ----> Toyota flanges, Jesse at high angle says he can build me a sterling to Toyota flange as well. Keep current drive shafts and alter length as needed.

It all seems pretty straight forward....anybody see any glaring issues

Ordered rear gears and master install, disc brake brackets, spring perches and diff cover.

Also ordered both pinion flanges from high angle....very good guys to deal with, quick turn around on what is basically a custom piece as well....definitely recommend them for anyone looking for drive line parts.

Had a little trouble getting parts from ruffstuff but did finally get them....rear axle should be mostly done this weekend.

Got the front back from the machine shop and it turned out pretty good....tore it fully apart and i am currently working on plating the upper half of the knuckle with .25 plate since i can't afford after market knuckles.

Also my buddy gave me about 1/2 enough stuff to link the front with custom radius arms so if i can find some cheapish air shocks i am gonna do that.

Its wide as is (61" wms....80" outside of tires) so its already really stable. I plan on using rims with a fair amount of backspacing to try and keep the overall width down....ideally i would like to see the overall width only grow to 83-84" but we will see how it ends up

Final trip on Toyota axles was awesome.....pushed it through some of the toughest stuff Rausch Creek has to offer.....truck worked flawlessly.....handled everything right in stride....no broken parts that i know of.....ready to swap axles and get back out on the trail!

Rear is pretty much done. As for the front i have or have on order:

5.38's
Spartan
16" swayaway coilovers with triple rate kit
1.25 heims and brackets to build a custom radius arm setup
Trail gear orbital and tsc ram for full hydro

Should be fun getting it all to fit while keeping the truck low....i am shooting for around the same ride height but we will see

Did a bunch of measuring.....it looks like if i remove my a/c compressor, move the axle ahead a couple inches, and slightly clearance the frame i can stuff the axle right up into the engine compartment and keep 6+" of uptravel while keeping the same ride height....one of the advantages of a tiny engine lol...if it comes right down to it i can lift the drivetrain some too.....i am gonna end up attaching the trac bar to the frame on the passenger side and the axle on drivers since it will be easier to package

The rear axle fought us setting up the gears but it will be buttoned up tomorrow.

Bought a piece of 3/8 x4 bar today to build a truss....gonna truss it from c to c over the top of the diff....also got enough 1/4 plate to fill in the space between the truss and tube for added support

Weekends progress....rear is all tacked together and sitting on its own....waiting to see where final ride height ends up before setting final pinion angle and burning it together....only issue i see is i may have to move the gas tank as the driveshaft may hit it. Got the front all stripped down and ready to start building. I put the housing under it and started mocking it in....it look like i am gonna be at 6" up, 10" down....its gonna get really close to the oil pan going up but i think i can fit it.....going down its gonna get close to the limit of the stock cv....if its too bad i am gonna order a dual case adapter and put the duals in to move the output back then i know it will work. Looks like wheel base is gonna be 119-121"
