Well its gonna get bigger.

The stock Toyota axles are too narrow for big tires and running 3" spacers on each side blows....i have been looking at wider housings but they are so dam expensive.

Well friday i stumbled on a ford hp kingpin 60 and sterling rear in good shape for 300$....been debating tons for a while and at that price it was a no brainer. Hope to have them in by the end of summer.

Anybody runs into someone looking for some built Toyota axles send them my way. I have a trip planned middle of april then i am gonna try to pawn my current axles to build my tons.

I have:

Fully built front, geared and locked rear, complete spare stock front, hydro assist goes with them too.

I was adding it up and there is over 2500$ in just upgrade parts, no labor or cost of stock axles included in that number.....i will let them go substantially less. (Won't be avail till end ofapril

Thanks.

I hope the deal on the engine works out....then its a matter of rebuilding it and getting it in.

I am down to wanting either a 6.0 chevy or a 4bt.....i absolutely love the cummins in my dodge so that's the way i am leaning....i think it will fit my use and driving style very well.

Engine deal isn't gonna work out

Its sitting in the corner of a shop....has been for 3 years.....one of the techs at the shop wants it but never has any money for it and just ignores it.....i offered to buy it so he threw a bitch fit because "he had it spoken for" even though it has been 3 years and he has done nothing with it.

Sucks because it is a 100% complete set up from a van....everything from front accessories to clutch to air cleaner with a brand new inline pump....just needs rebuild due to minor scoring on cylinder 3......200$ was all it was gonna cost.....if you are familiar with these motors you know what kinda deal that is.

I would definitely be interested in the axles. Shoot me a pm with what you're thinking on price.

Sucks about the 4bt too. I've been casually looking for one and that would have been a killer deal.

Tore down and hacked apart the 60 today....going from driver drop to passenger, in the process i'm gonna set it to use 78-79 inner shafts to push the diff inward and give myself more short side tube to work with.

Me too.

I am going to rausch creek end of April.....when i get home BeaverTown is gonna take my current axles and the race to get my new ones in will be on.

The whole process should be pretty painless....there are countless full width 1 ton Toyota's out there so most any part is available and there is no shortage of how to tech. Mine will be a little different due to it being a flopped ford 60 not a chevy 60....i feel the high pinion is worth the extra work / unknowns.

I am starting with a 86 hp kingpin ford 60. I bought it and the rear sterling 10.25 for 300$....i had intended on swapping in a tacoma tcase and keeping it drivers drop but the high offset of the 80's ford 60's won't work.

So it is gonna get swapped to the passenger side....i am gonna have it set up to use 78-79 60 inner shafts which gives me a longer short side / shorter long side which is what i need. In a perfect world i would like to be able to run 29" spring spacing (stock Toyota) but i don't think i can get it there without custom shafts which i don't want. What i do think i can do is get it to 31.5" spring spacing (stock chevy)....with that sky manufacturing sells a new front hanger and offset shackles that will work perfect.

Beefy....your welded in the front right? How horrible is it on a trail only rig? I am gonna have to stay with hydro assist to start with due to funds.....you think it would be liveable on my rig with 38-40" tires

Yes, welded front full spool rear. Turning is difficult if I had reverse lights they would be burnt out. I use trees as much as possible, make sure your hydro assist works very well.

Mine is slow turning but works fine, my next upgrade is full hydro

Edit
____

Twin sticks makes that entire thing I just typed usless

That's my other "next upgrade"

Oh and your gonna wanna unhook the rear not the front.

Front wheel drive is much more beneficial on these rigs

I cant unlock the rear

Toyota cases will not do front wheel only....i may double it with a dana 300 then i could do front only.

I am hoping to have the coin for a Spartan locker (same i have now) but may weld it if money runs short
