I use a pair of forks or the vice for my trueing stand. I have done 20" 24" 26" and a couple dirtbike wheels. If you have the proper length for type of lacing your doing just start putting them in and tighten the nipples to the same amount of turns to start with. Once you get about 25% of them in you can get it trued well enough and keep adding them and don't over tighten any. Then do a slow criss cross pattern for tightening. Don't get too rambunctious though. It takes time but is relatively easy once you get started.
