Default 10,000 mile leases? What do you put on in a year?

I was listening to the radio last night and they were talking about leases on the new Focus. It was a 39 month, 10,000 mile per year lease, with of course a stupid low payment after you put your first born down(actually I think it was only around $1800).

I get that this is just part of their ploy to create a crazy low price to get you in the door...

Who in the hell only drives 10,000 miles a year or less? Are there really people out there that only average 27 miles per day?

I live 20 miles from work, Kerry 25 miles. I don't think that's even close to being excessively far away.

Just going to and from work each year we put on 10,400 and 13,000. So with just making it a work commuter I would be 400 miles over on my lease assuming my drive is EXACTLY 20 miles every single day.

I think last year I put around 25k-27k miles on my JK. Kerry has put like 15k on her truck since April. At the rate we drive we would need 5-6 lease cars*.

What do you guys all average in a year of driving?

*Note: Of course we are not the people that can lease a car, and leasing multiple cars would be dumb, but that was sarcasm and sarcasm is only understood by like 3% of this website.

My only input on this is....
I recently started a 36mo lease on a 2011 ford fusion, I added extra miles (~15k/yr) and it added around $40 to my payment each month. (If you were wondering about that sort of thing :) )

You added 15k or you added to get up to 15k?

Yes I was curious :)

I easily top 25k-30k/year. the 2008 GLI I acquired in late August with just under 36k on it is knocking on 44k and change already. now that I have a 4 door, it is being used for more than just my commuting however. the family frequently piles into my car instead of the wife's big crossover for various trips, sporting events, practices, and even shopping.

I drove a total of 56,000 miles last year.

20k of them were on my "second vehicle" primarily used for road trips, chores, etc.
36k on my "car" or commuter vehicle.

Makes me sick.

Bought a new car at the end of May and it just turned 18k miles. So that would be 30k/yr +/-

I only put 6600 miles on my truck this past year. That's to and from work and when I need a truck. And only put 1500 miles on my trailblazer since August and it went to Philly and back.

In just under 22 months of owning my truck I've put 48000 miles on it, which at 16mpg and $4 per gallon sucks ass.....that's $12000 in fuel

I need an econobox, which sucks cuz I hate them.

I put heavy miles on my cars. My last lease cost 6k to get out of. That was in 2009. I ended up buying a used car. I will drive it until it dies or my kids can drive it!

So far you win the 2011 Saudi Donation Award.

Damn...56k is crazy. That's an average of 153 miles a day. I know you live quite far from work, but what else do you do? That's an average of 138 miles a day for the DD and 192 average on your "second vehicle" assuming a 5/2 kinda thing.

Since moving closer to work, I only drive 2,600 miles a year to get to work and back. That's every week, so in reality it's a little less. Now with personal trips and some work trips, I'm somewhere around 7,500 miles a year.

I changed the oil for the first time in the Cruze on Sunday. Brought it home on July 11th or something. It already has 10,700 miles on it. Most of those miles are from Leah driving to and from work. I put 26,000 miles on my Jeep over the last 15 months.

10,700 miles and one oil change? I hope you don't mind replacing the engine at less than 100k.

I put around 30k on my Magnum and changed the only once within the first 5000 miles I owned it.

The moral of the story: Don't buy a 06 black AWD R/T Magnum with an aftermarket grill and a Drummond Island sticker in the back window if you see it.
