Default My Cheap Jeep (XJ)

Well, after I successfully managed to destroy a pair of 22re's in my Toyota, I figured it wasn't worth putting a 3rd motor in and decided to look for something different. Enter this 1994 Jeep Cherokee. Its got 137k on it. 4.0, Ax15, 2wd. Snagged her up for 500 bucks. Also got a 2001 4 door 4x4 for all the stuff to convert it to 4 wheel drive (250 bucks). I'm gonna keep track of what I've got into this thing and whatnot. Hopefully you guys enjoy it. Its my first real build so any questions or suggestions are fine with me.

TOTAL SPENT SO FAR: 1,120.00

So far I've replaced the radiator. (free, from 01 donor)
It needs a windshield, and a steering column.
Other than that its pretty nice.
It will probably be a pretty slow build. I've been working on it for a few months here and there. I'm hoping for it to be wheel-able by memorial day weekend 2014.

Why not build the 2001 instead?

The 2001 was an empty shell that hit something hard about mid a-pillar and pushed the roof back. None of the doors open that great. Plus the 2door was from Arizona so its really really clean. Almost zero rust.

All I have left from it is the front springs and passenger power mirror, and the hood. The rest is parted/scrapped already. Sorry.

How much for the front beam, and how complete would it be?

Sorry. That's already been sold as well. These pictures are from a few months ago. I'm trying to get this updated to recent progress.

So far I have,
Swapped the 01 header panel over. Had to take the 94 wiring harness and swap because they are different (different plugs, one less light).
Trimmed the front of the fenders up a little.
Swapped the front Dana 30 in. (3.55 gears)
Mounted my mtzs (305/70/16) from my Toyota on some fake headlock wheels (hate on me, they were cheap lol). Did a quick aerosol overhaul on the rims.
Here is how it sits at the moment.

Subscribed, Caleb.

I have a good windshield that you're welcome to if you want to remove it yourself when you pick up your other parts.

Messed with this a little this weekend. Got the front end all finished up, greased it and put new brakes on the front. Also started to pull the nasty carpets. Pulled the rear and no rust! I also got a new column from 1x1 speed Craig that I need to put in. Thanks again Craig!

Went down to Hartland Saturday morning early and picked this 94 up from Alex (Masterbeatty) for parts.
A friend of mine needed a 4.0, another buddy wanted the tires, and I was looking for a lift and rear axle and Alex threw in the rest of the jeep. It’s got a 4.5’’ rustys short arm lift, a good windshield, rear axle that’s already welded, and an adjustable track bar. The front axle is a high pinion which may find its way under the black one too. I also got some spare drive shafts from it. Kinda thinking about wheeling this one instead lol because it’s done. He gave me a smoking deal on it.

Got the front lift done today. Put new bushings in the track bar. Ran it down the road and it drives pretty nice. Im not so good at taking pictures, I'm used to just working haha. Does anybody know how to add photos without using the attachment feature? Is that the photobucket app or something?.

I use Photobucket. Put the pics there and get the img code for them. Those you post. I assume it works the same with phones.
