Default Broken JCR Bumper Suggestions? (carrier spindle)

Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix a broken tire carrier spindle on the JCR bumpers? I no longer have access to a welder or shop, so I was hoping someone might have a creative solution to get by?

EDIT: SEE BELOW, JCR's NEW UPGRADED SPINDLE IS WELL WORTH IT!!! :)

The bumper is on an 04 TJ. The worst part is the spare sitting on the back seats, but there is no other way to carry it now. The first time it broke was on a non-busy road, and the second time it was in a driveway, swinging out the tire to switch tops. So both times we were glad it didn't happen on a busy road or highway where someone could have been killed by a 33" tire and chunk of steel flying at them.

If you haven't seen the bumpers, they are built really nice and solid, but they used to use a regular tire spindle (along with everyone else), but they were found to break. We've already had it repaired once sometime in spring 2009, and it broke again recently. They've modified the lifetime warranty to now only cover one repair. So now I'm hoping someone else just has a creative way to hold the spare somewhere...

We'd probably be willing to switch bumpers if you have one that fits, and have a way to hold the spare too.

Here's some pics from last time it broke, same thing again, just didn't take new pictures...

I would suggest sending a pm to Brimy311 or Monkeyevil. They seem to stand behind their product, especially for someone local like yourself that can bring it to them.

yeah, I tried emailing the company email a couple times a month ago, and pm'ing Brimy over a week ago but didn't get a response.

The last time it was fixed it was put back together pretty rough and we weren't too happy with it, so I figure at this point I'd just look for other options or trading the bumper to someone who can fix it. They are just trying to make a living too, so I guess I understand if this is considered too old, and they just can't fix it again (bought in '06 originally)

Oops, actually not in Kzoo anymore, over NW of Detroit around Novi now, but we still go to Kzoo once in a while.

Cast-free since Nov 9, but it still hurts like a sumbish! Anyway, sees like I'm close enough to Novi and the guys at JCR always took care of me, so maybe I can give a bit back by helping wjwerdna.

Do you have a new spindle? I might be able to weld it for you and i'm in Kzoo. I'd have to talk to my buddy and see if I could use the shop and welder he works for.

That's not a "burn back together" opportunity; the spindle needs removed and replaced with another - or a different design is needed; I have one in mind, but I have to do some calculations first & see the bumper in person.

You could always just use a big bolt with a nut at the end. I've seen people do that.....

Why not go to JCR and see if you can get a discount on their new "bomb proof" spindle they have?

Scooter, that would be awesome, see message

On the spindle, just replacing it with a new one isn't going to help much, it'll just break again. The last one lasted a whole year and a half, and never even got wheeled in that time

We hoped to just get a price on replacing or upgrading since we'll be in Kalamazoo off and on through the holidays, but it's probably not worth the hassle/cost at this point.

The rest of the bumper was awesome, so is the cage they installed, and the sliders. Their new "bombproof" spindle looks like quite the upgrade, and should work great too.
