Default I'm quitting my job

yep giving up the big money just so I can stay at home and snowmobile.

Company wanted me to go to the Carolinas to work for the next couple months and I said no. I've been on the road for the last 9 months and outside of the money have nothing happy to say about it. I will go back to being poor and happy rather than well off and miserable.

Maybe I can start to work on all of my projects that I was forced to put off for the last 9 months. My first objective is to liquidate all of my excess crap on ebay.

Cool!

I really want to pack up shop, and be a ski bum out west for a year... But I think that would set me back alittle to far in life

There are indeed many seasonal bums in Colorado. Several friends out there are on the ski patrol during the winter and are river rafting guides in the summer months.

Yep a buddy of mine and two of his college friends took winter semester off from U of M back in '90 to go ski in CO. They all worked as waiters or bartenders to make ends meet. I can't remember where they went, but I think it was Winterpark.

My buddy transfered to MSU in the fall of '90, then took the next 2 winter semester off to go ski CO.
I haven't talked to him in 8 years but I believe he is somewhere in Cali skiing and chasing chicks. Still doesn't have a real job tho'. And he has 3 college degrees......ahh the life

I quit my job back in April and spent all summer driving around the country going to music festivals (Coachella, Bonnaroo, All Good, Lollapalooza, SXSW, etc...) and basically just being a hippie.

But yes, you do get a good feeling from doing exactly what you want to do when you want to do it.

Met a couple guys who are ski instructors / bums in Colorado in the Winter. In the summer they do the rafting guides as well, but in Alaska. The one guy stayed for the crab season and made $14K in the 2 weeks of the season. Said it was good money, but never again on the crab boat. Been doing the rafting in Alaska every year for about 6 now though.

If you are going to bum around, try to get up there and see a beautiful country.

Actually, as much as I would like to sponge off of my parents, I've been on my own since I was 18 (I'm 27 now).

I joined the Marines, earned tow undergrad degrees, will have my masters on next Saturday, and will be putting myself through law school starting next September. (I also supported my biatch ex-gf and put her through grad school as well just to have her screw me over)

Over the past nine years all I've gotten from my parents was a cheap (and I mean really cheap) set of pots and pans when I got out of the Marines and got my first place.

I have saved well over the last few years and decided this past summer was going to be the last time in the next few years when I would not (hopefully) be working full-time or in law school so I quit what I was doing and decided to have some fun for once.

Poor and happy is a great way to live. Specially when the generous tax payers are willing to support it.
