Default 7.3 idi keeps blowing out oil filter rings?

For some reason my 93 7.3 idi keeps blowing the o-ring out of my oil filter. It just started doin it. I put a new filter on it worked great for a day, today i started it and watch 2 gallons pour out. Im lost here. Ive put 8000 miles on the truck and this has never happened before. Filters tight and ive checked for double gaskets. Any help is greatly appreciated.

your pressure relief is either stuck or you have a double gasket.

Pressure relief? Where can i find that? Judging by my gauge right before it blew last time my oil pressure was way high

On the driver side of the engine you will have a
oil to water cooler. The rear most casting that your filter attaches to has the relief built in. Take it off and look for a spring with a valve that would normally by-pass the filter. It is most likely stuck.

Is the relief valve on the face where it bolts to the block or the face that the filter screws up to? Mine looks differnt than the picture.

I had a simular problem after changing my oil filter on a 7.3 I thought it was the filter itself. I thought i picked up some defective ones. The brand I always use are wick, needless to say the local auto parts kept replacing them at no charge/putting up with my nonsense.
As it turns out, when I replaced the first one, the rubber o-ring had stuck to the surface, and to get it off I used a putty knife to get it off, which in turn"left a couple of chicken scratches on the surface." It was those scratches in the surf where the oil was able to force its way out. About 2 quarts on the driveway.
After the 4th filter and still dumping oil, I drove my 2001 ccb diesel up to Hunington Ford/Rochester Mi. and they found my problem. They put blue die on the surface where the filter screws on/found my chicken scratches.
And quoted me a fix it price/replace the oil filter housing. parts and labor $$$
I declined to let them replace it, paid my tab and walked up to the parts counter and ordered a new one and put it on myself. "Problem solved/fixed" I think the new housing cost me $100.

Turns out it was my pressure relief valve. It was stuck closed for some reason.
