In a 1995 ford truck with a 5.0 out of a 1994, can i just pull the flat tappet lifters and cam and throw rollers back into it?

I believed they switch to roller in 1994.

You can do but you need special thingy that hold roller in place.

The block should have the two threaded bosses in the lifter valley. If so you can use the factory roller lifters, dog bones and retainer to convert to roller. You will need the shorter roller cam push rods as well.

But, the distributor gears are different. Flat tappet cams are cast and use a cast gear on the distibutor.Roller cams are steel and use a steel gear...you CAN NOT mix match them or you will eat the softer gear away to nothing sending metal shavings through your motor.

what would be a good cam, lifter, rocker and push rod setup? Im putting some fordracing turbo swirl 64cc head on it with an edelbrock efi truck intake, twin 56mm venturi, 2 new fuel rails, 24lb injectors, arp head and intake studs. Just for a little insight as to what i would like to accomplish in this little endeavor of mine. and an msd pro billet distributor.

I would use a E303 cam. You have a 24lb calibrated MAS?

You will need to know how those heads are set up before you can buy rockers as the could be made for 3/8 studs or stock pedistal rockers.

I wouldnt buy pushrods until motor is together so you can measure for correct length.

What are you using the truck for? DD, trail rig, mud toy?? With the limited info I would probably use a Comp XE264HR. Not a huge fan of the old letter cams from Ford racing, not that they don't work it's just that there are so much better cams out now.

I have also used Ed Curtis with www.flowtechinduction.com for custom cams, you pay a little more but you get something built for your combo.

As stated above, make sure you have the right dist. gear and push rods should be measured for after you mock things up.

the truck will be used mostly for dd although trails and mud aren't out of the question. I want to end up making 350 to 450 hp.

I was thinking 4.10 since this will be a dd.

I don't see you getting very close to 350hp. You are lowering your CR with that chamber size head also.
4.56 wouldnt be bad on a street driver with 35's, specially if you dont have a low first gear.

Yeah good catch on the chamber size..... Unless you plan to add a blower to it I wouldnt get heads with a 64cc chamber, stick with a 58cc otherwise the motor will end up well below the stock 9.0-1 compression.

With this combo you would be lucky to come anywhere NEAR 350hp. Any more than that would require a few more cubes like a 347.

Im daily driving a Bronco2 with a Mustang efi 5.0 and a c4 auto.I run 35's with 3.73 gears and its fine for my truck and gets 18mpg .If I had an AOD in it I would just up to 4.56 tho.

302 build scrapped, bought a full roller 351w from the salvage yard today for 100$. Thanks for the advise though. 351 will be easier to get the power i want out of.
