Ok cool ill probably go with those then. Just wanted to make sure they didn't have the hollow passages weakening the joint.

not the case with Yukon. They will warranty any broken Yukon 4340 axle. I can't say for sure about other chromo axle companies tho (not trying to dis on them...just saying I honestly don't know).

SUPERIOR will consider warranty of front axles with broken u-joint ears, as long as the supplied Dana Spicer 5-760 u-joint or better* is used and u-joint is installed using the supplied full circle snap rings.

*Acceptable replacement u-joints are Dana Spicer 5-760X, CTM, Ballistic Joint & Longfield Super Joint

I would say if Superior considers a 5-760X strong enough, it's plenty strong enough for a Yukon

Here's what I ordered, the Alloy Usa 11500.

Compared to a Spicer 5-760x

In this pic you can see that the Alloy is slightly thinner than the Spicer.

This picture shows how the Alloy joint has "trapped" needle bearings. The Alloy also has a smaller ID than the Spicer.
The Spicer has 28 needle bearings compared to the Alloy's 26 needle bearings.

I am surprised to see that the Alloy U joint has a narrower side profile along with a smaller ID in the cap and less needle bearings. However the Alloy U joint carries a 3 year warranty so they must have done something right.

I believe that you have to host the photo on the server for the logo to be applied, not just a link to another server. (like photobucket)

I would consider the Spicer to be the better joint with one exception. I like the individual lube fittings.

What is the price difference?

The Alloy was $40 from 4Wheel Parts with free shipping, the Alloy also comes with a set of full circle clips. The Spicer was $35 plus tax from Unlimited Off Road, and only has the traditional half clips.

I found the average price for full circle clips to be $5 a set. So if you are running the U joint in an aftermarket set of shafts, the cost would be the same per U joint.

Well....

Sorry for the phone pics,

I broke the U joint when I got stuck with only 3wd. I was stuck in a ditch and could only reverse, so I put it in 4low and gave it everything the truck had, while wiggling the front tires being sure not to go to full lock. As you can see joint still failed and took out the both shafts in the process However I'm not sure that a Spicer would have done any better given the situation.

Ill be calling Alloy tomorrow to see about the warranty. Ill be sure to post the response.

I've broke alot of shit in my old 44's and I always ran 760x's, I've spit alot of caps and destroyed alot of shafts, but never broke a trunion on a 760x.

I wouldn't run anything but a spicer 5-760X

I beat on mine hard with the same moly shafts you have and 38's and didn't break anything. The only thing I didn't like about the spicer is the caps, they kept cracking and the seals are junk.

Ill be running one 5-760x and one Alloy at Snofari, so that will be the final test. But I'm not happy so far with there performance to say the least...

Alloy will be warrantying the u joint, so there at least standing behind their product.

What's roughly a good price to do it with a mechanic.. I think my driver side joints are going bad and want to estimate some pricing here.
