Default motor swap

with all this talk of sleds going on, I hope I can get this answered.

My 1998 Skidoo MXZ500 is too slow. Will the motor and clutch (583) from a same year Formula Z work in my chassis? If this will work, should I skip the 583 and look for a 670? I have located a 583, but not a 670.

This^^^^ except before you leave it alone make sure your clutching and jetting is as good as you can get it.pull the shims out behind your secondary clutch,so it can float on the jackshaft,a little. Those 500's rocked when they came out,we used to school a lot of bigger bore sleds with one,on the grass.A 583 with same mods isnt worth buying a motor unless yours is blown up.Sell the 5oo ,put a few bucks with it and step up to bigger sled,a few years newer and the suspension gets much better.
The 670 is one of my favorite rotax motors, but again sell the running 500 and find a sled with more motor, and suspension.
