Default How To Remove Detroit Lockers from D30/35?

I purchased a YJ a few years ago that has Superior Super Axles (30 spline) and Detroit Lockers in both axles. I would like to make it a better daily driver and want to remove the Detroit lockers - at least in the front axle. Because these are 30 spline hardened axles, what is the cheapest option to replace the Locker with something less aggressive like a lunch-box locker. I don't want to go back to an open differential, but I don't enjoy driving as it's currently built. I'm running 35 inch tires so need to keep the 30 spline hardned axles.

Looking for ideas how to remove the Detroit Lockers making it a better daily driver while keeping my 30 spline hardened axles. Thanks

(Sorry, this is also listed under "Jeep Tech")

the detroits are going to handle better than lunchbox lockers, and be stronger and quieter. Sounds like you want a limited slip or a selectable locker up front. I don't know if there is a TrueTrac for 30 spl dana 30s - that would be the best mix of better traction, on-road handling, and cost.

Or bite the bullet and get an air activated locker like an ARB or Zip, or electric selectable like the E-Locker.

For the front, you're stuck with the Detroit, Zip Locker, ARB, or E-Locker (don't recommend that one).

For the Rear, there's the Grizzly, Zip, Detroit, ARB, or Ected.
