Engine swap from 89 to 97?

A guy has a 89 motor home and want to put the engine and possibly trans in a 97 chevy 4x4. I have not looked at them yet but am sure I would have to at least change intake and accessories. I dont know if output shaft on trans would have to be changed or if its even possible to use. Any help would be appreciated.

Trans wont work,it's a obd1 trans,in the 89,and obd2 in the 97.
The shortblock should work, but the 97 has vortec heads and intake, you will have to swap them.
