Default Banana LJ

Picked up the new project.
2006 Jeep Rubicon LJ. 12000 miles. Its a shame this got hit, its super clean, the interior looks like it was never used.
Its also a shame someone thought painting everything yellow was cool. It looks like a banana that go peeled.
Anyway, putting new frame under it. Passager fender and bumper for sure. Thinking mild mods, nothing crazy maybe a AEV high line kit.

Default New Frame is here

Let the party begin, new frame is here, looks excellent. Got the air bags installed today. Started unbolting stuff. Man I love working on new stuff-that has to be worth something?

just out of interest. How much did the frame cost? did it come straight from Jeep? Or was it an aftermarket?

It is from Middleton Auto in Fraser. Awesome guys. Jeep had 8k and was hit in the rear above the bumper. Frame was not touched. 800.00 and also hooked me up with both air bag, module, and seatbelts. Offered several other parts if I end up needing them. Would recommend to anyone. Talk to Tim.

That's a bargain for a VERY nice-looking frame. Nice find.

Default 4 hours and frame is out.

Started this weekend, had a couple hours into yesterday and today. Frame is out and ready to start swapping stuff to new frame. Everything is looking great, no surprises yet. Thinking 2.5 inch OME springs with Bilstiens while its apart. Thinking it will slow down when the cold get here.

Monday and Tuesday transfered everything onto new frame except rear axle as with the lift, too tall now and I will need to slide under and put axle in after.
New Fender, checked alignment before goes to paint, looks good.

That top matching looks hideous...

Should be called project Short Bus :)

But thats going to be a pretty cool setup. How jacked was the original frame? After seeing what Benny87 did to the frame on the TJ I started building it seems like a frame would have to be pretty screwed to swap one out. But for $800 that's hard to pass up.

I started with a wrecked LJ, was hit way worse then that and my frame was ok. needed a little tweeking but didn't need a new one. I'm surprised you needed a new frame.
