The pics of the new low mile 67k boat ancor. Hurray for me. The heads checked out ok so there going onto my 146k motor that is in great shape just cracked the exhaust flange trying to get broken stud out(my fault) but i figured id get a motor since it was $300 and had 67k. Big mistake i shoulda pulled the drain plug on it before i bought it.

rebuild that lower end while apart it sucks to have a issue once in and a set of rings and bearings can't be to much .

I'm actually going to order a ATK reman thru my work in the fall. Ill just exchange this one out after this wheeling season so pry xmas time when I do ill order up my edelbrock intake & a mild cam for it. Should be a nice light fun combo plus the 2.8 w a cam intake and my weber carb pushes 195hp and 240 ftlbs should fit the sami perfect

This was tonights progress i stripped it down cleaned the entire motor. Prepped all my gasket surfaces and painted the motor. I put all new gaskets from top to bottom including the rear main(I absolutely hate leaks). I did put a new oil pan and valve covers on bc for the price of them they werent in nice enough shap to bother cleaning and painting them too. Once this motor is in truck complete for drivetrain the mods begin. And a new savings jar for next winter bc i'll pry pull this and swap in a 3.4l and keep this as a spare incase i pop it.

today I had to modify the egr port on the back of the intake to clear the new hei distributor. I had a block off plate for it anyways but now i need to get my buddy over with his tig to weld the 2 pieces of the block off to the intake and make it permanent. I'll post pics of after it gets welded.

I got the new hubs installed tonight they deff dress up the wheels nice w the black on chrome look. I also cut out the floor around the trans from the firewall back to the seats and opened it up to fit the th350. now i just need to make a new crossmember to mount the trans. Once it's in place i can drop in the engine and weld up some mounts for it. I will also have to run to CCI and get a yoke for my trans. My trans wont truly have a driveshaft it'll be a slip yoke for the trans w 1 ujoint atached to the flange that bolts to the tcase. Hope the joint doesnt go bad bc the tcase has to be moved to get it out after it's all together lol

well I started to fab in a new cross member tonight and fit the trans. That did not go as well as planed looks like im gonna have to open up the fire wall where the bell housing will be and recess it in about 2". Not a huge deal just annoying. Made me realize why ppl ran 4.3s i measured one up tonight that was complete w accesories and it's 3" shorter than my 2.8l dressed w accesories.my w/p and crank pulleys stick out much farther than a 4.3l . But at this point im commited custom torque converter will be here tomorrow i had an intake modified. Plus i have about 1500 in parts to get this all ready to go. So i supose a $20 piece of sheet metal and some welding/fab time wont stop me from the 2.8l plus the whole point was to keep it light and that it will be.

this was the intake modification. Used intake of 83 s10 $35 having someone tig weld what i cut apart $60 all in all not to bad. Can't wait to see how quick this will rev and go when done. I had a 9.5" converter made to fit this combo saved alot of rotational weight which will help make it feel like the power of a 4.3 with the size and weight of the 2.8l

Sami is coming along at a slow pace right now I need to move the motor/trans forward to make room for a new shaft between the trans/tcase. I may have to move the tcase back 2" also after I move the engine. I won't know til tomorrow If I can move the motor forward until I get the short nose water pump from a camaro though. And a new crank and water pump pulley I'm hoping that will buy me 2.5"-3". Worst case I need a np231 tcase and an adapter for my th350 to make it all work where its at
