Default Project No Clever Name - 1994 Toyota Landcruiser FJZ80

Figured I'd start a build thread to keep track of where it's been and where it's going.

Picked this up in the fall of 2013.

1994 Toyota Landcruiser FJZ80
178k miles
front and rear lockers
It's green

The plan? Build a capable camping truck that I can take the wife and kids in and not worry about getting into too much trouble... but can still live with as a winter driver

The day it came home

First order of business... new tires. Toyo Open Country AT2 in 285/75/16 (I think?)

First time playing with it... took it to the quarry in Milan. It did very well, for what I attempted. Didn't get too crazy with my 2 year old in the back seat

This is and will continue to be a slow build thread. 2 kids, 1 wife, 6 motorcycles, no free time and less free money...

So I did the free stuff. I removed the running boards

Then I started to notice my heat not working and my temps climbing. Uh oh... found this

I spent the winter trying to deny the inevitable... I flushed the rad a few times, I found hoses I thought might have been the culprit. Bah. Finally I gave in. Head gasket time

Replaced a bunch of stuff while I was in there. Pesky Heater Hose, fuel filter, thermostat, new belts, plugs, valve cover gasket,, intake and exhaust gaskets had the injectors rehabbed, etc

Plasti-dipped the wheels

and then I decided I hated the green... let's go!

Yanked the fender flares

Took care of a little surface rust

and Monstalined the whole thing

It's very stealthy at night (look behind the Durango)

Best mod to date?

Added a roof rack mounted on Gamiviti gutter mounts and a china LED light bar

And then I found this on Craigslist for half of what a new one would cost

I have also picked up a second passenger side battery tray and a Blue Sea dual battery switch... will be installing that soon.

That's where I'm at.

Next up? Harbor Freight Badlands 12k winch. Then it's time to lift it a bit.

I see you are trying to keep up with Alex654321. BTW, it is a good thing you blanked out the license plate number. You do not want anyone seeing that.

I do like your Toyota.
