Default Lame ass XJ build. Never going to leave the driveway.

Caution lots of SPELLING and GRAMMAR fuck ups.

Current state.

20130505_135926

The Jeep is a 1992 Cherokee Laredo, I bought this in 2006 after my '94 Cherokees maiden wheeling trip to the mounds and some douche hit me head on on the way home and totaled it.

So the plans for my Jeep have changed from when I started, from budget minded, to fukc it, just buy what I want since it hasn't moved in forever anyway theres no reson not to save a bit more for what I want. Through I want to keep it pretty simple, and easily serviceable when needed. Also working in a fab shop helps a ton when I need something whipped up if I dont feel like buying it, or it doesn't exist.

Any who on to pictures, and crap.

This is her the day I brought it home, a rust free Cherokee from Tennessee for $1500 and had about 180k on her, when I got it it dident run properly the guy thought it needed a fuel pump but it was just the tps, a quick swap from my 94 and she was running perfect.

Now at this time I was working at Pappa Romanos, this was my DD so not only did I have shit income, I had to keep it working everyday.

This is after the Terraflex 2" Spacer/Shackle BB from my '94
http://www.teraflex.biz/xj-cherokee-...get-boost.html

Fenders off

Doors off.(front only for now)

Slight trimming and 31"x10.5" Dakota M/Ts

Flexing in the ally behind my house. I was so cool.

Stuff!

This was the extent of suspension and tire mods for the next few years since i was makeing about $250 every two weeks, so i started adding little shit to it.

Super cool mag light storage.

Decided to cut off the 4wd lever and add this guy, much easier to shift in and out of 4wd.

Tore the guts out and Hurculined it.

That was about the extent of that for about 2 years of wheeling and DD, untill i got a real job and bought a DD and made this just a straight toy.

Fast foward a year or so.

Allwase leading.

Going in.

BIG LIP! but got out.

Then we found this pit on the trail. Leader got stuck.(and killed alternator)

Friend jordan stuck. Jon helping.

Friend Jon stuck.
.

After all the fun, I spent 3 hrs doing my first alternator change on my Jeep in the carwash parking lot with minimal tools. I think my long ass hair was causing some issues haha.

thats all I have time for today, next few will be of recent and actual mods.

Ok so last spring I started really working on it.

Cut the rear hinges.

WJ dual diaphragm booster.

and with master cylinder.

my hooorrible idea of a snokle, I figured since I didn't have a lift I could make up for it by lifting the intake in case of deeper than I thought pits on the trail. More on why it is a bad way to set it up later.

Most of you know how annoying it is in the early Cherokees to not have any cup holders, so being a bicycle enthusiast I did this.

FOZZY LOCKERRRR!!! and it works great actually and in the event of breakage its replaceable unlike a full welded setup.

The last touch for this stage was the JCR prerunner bumper with all the extras.

Painted and all.

more later.

I bought that in '08 to become a tow rig but I got layed of at the end of the year, it became a big project all of '09 getting it just to run right, once it did i swapped in a d60 and the gears exploded so it sat parked since, I tryed to sell it on here many times but with no interest. It was a bad decision to buy it in the first place it was to much work for my income wile having my Jeep DD and Jeep toy.

Mirror from my old CJ-7 that I tweeked a little.

With the MRAP my shop makes parts for and one of our managers Duce and a half.

So remember I said the Reeealy bad snorkel idea, well around this time last year I was driving the toy around for the last time before winter and got caught in a gnarly rainstorm and the snorkel sucked in enough water wile on the freeway it blew my head gasket. But that caused me to start a good amount of work on it.

Finally spring 2011 ordered a Rustys (ya ya they suck don't care yet) 6.5" short arm kit. and started on the rear.
http://rustysoffroad.com/mm5/merchan...ode=sus_xj_kit

1.5" shackle on.

Wile removing the leaf hanger bolts they snapped in the frame so i just orederd these, from ply performance. http://www.polyperformance.com/shop/...t-p-20685.html

Rear done.

Compared to my girlfriends Jeep.

Sarting on the front, also my friend was having my bumper powder coated for me.

Front done-ish. Still needed UCA bushings and steering. I also added the 2" Terraflex spacers up front to level it out some.

Dirtbound offroad 231 hack and tap.
http://www.dirtboundoffroad.com/feat...bound-offroad/

I decided on the currie steering so keep things simple.

This setup is crazy beefy.

On.

I made thees to press out/in the UCA bushings.(My pops welded that, not I haha)

But will grinding the surface flat the wheel exploded and did this.

Once I had it able to move I tuned it around in the driveway and noticed the front coils were bowed forwards, I figured it was from the 2" spacers I had still in there so i pulled them out, but the rear still sits high, I may put stock length shackle back in if it doesn't settle soon.

Now that the suspension was done, time to swap in a motor. I picked up a 4.0 with lower miles out of a MJ from a guy on here and tossed it in two days before a trip me and a friend had planed.

Opened up.

Pulled it out.

Haha my friend nick named Turbo(fastest recorded Bike wheel builder, google it)
we did a turbo swap.

Replacement about ready.

So, we got the motor installed and (what i thought) ready to go the morning of the trip to the mounds, drove it around the block for the frirst time since the lift and engine swap, decide its good and head out. Well luckily my friends BII's trans starts pissing fluid on the way there so we turnaround and re plan in 2 weeks.

Now i say luckily becaus found that the engine had 12q of oil in it (i think the guy said it was empty) but stupid me for not checking. So i flushed the motor, tightened up the loose ends (every thing on the thing) and went wheeling on oct 30th.

Checking the newly gained (not alot) flecks. Also making sure everything clears everything else wile maxed out

We are posers, but im better at it.

Shitty vid of me doing the little course.
http://s74.photobucket.com/albums/i2...=VIDEO0024.mp4

After that we headed to the trails and I got gnar stuck, took alot of yanks from my friend to free me.

My girl sad that all her stuff on the floor washed to the back haha.

So after all that we headed home, well on the way I noticed my jeep started to sound like our old clark HiLo at work. Knowing it was my rear pinion bearing ill pulled the rear drive shaft and continued home in front wheel drive.
Well after a few miles I started to feel the rear end catching and locking for a split second, I hoped off the freeway and made it home on main roads.

So instead of fixing a turd 27spline C8.25 the next weekend I bought this from jeepinxj boy 21

This brings us up to date.

Started work on the rear bumper, Im trying to make it as simeple as possible wile still doing its job for recovery. Im useing 1/8" wall 2"x4" tube, for the bumper, the mounting plates are EX TEN-50 1/4" plates I cut on one of my lasers at work, along with 2"x4" tube for an inside the frame mount, the recovery tabs are laser cut from A514 3/4" that will go through the bumper and be welded on both sides.

Dring tabs

I cant figure how to post this as a video on here but this is them beeing cut out.
http://s74.photobucket.com/albums/i2...=VIDEO0046.mp4

http://s74.photobucket.com/albums/i2...=VIDEO0045.mp4

Bumper plates.

Cutting
http://s74.photobucket.com/albums/i2...IDEO0045-1.mp4

Got the rear bumper and hitch off.

Im still trying to decide what angle i should cut the ends of it at.

Wile I ponder on angles/waiting for warren pipe to get more tube in, I went to Joes Army Navy, and found thees neat little guys.

This.

Becomes this.

Also, since my taxes were nice, I took the ford 9" housing in to DTS and they installed a spool, 5.13 gears and a Ubolt style yoke for me, and with a 24hr turn around, it was a glitch but cool haha.

mmm

BEEEF

Thank you!

Going to 35s, and Maby 37s down the road (after RCVs and cromos). I went with 5.13 tho for the extra little bit of torque off road and pep on road. I was thinking of going to 5.38 but got talked out of haha

And o ya, I forgot to add that in, I allready got one, just need to find a place for it. Thanks for the reminder.
