Worked on the rear axle tonight. Added a fill hole for the diff fluid that should make filling it a lot easier.

Kind of pointless to make filling it easy if its still a pain to drain it so added a drain plug.

Also added some tie down points to make strappingthe xj to the trailer a bit quicker.

Added a upper truss as well I'm not sure why but it can't hurt.

Axle looks awsome.
I like the tiedown feature.
Any problem with heat warpage?

It moves around as you weld, just went slow and moved around a lot to keep it straight.

Worrying about keeping the axle perfectly straight is overrated.

X2 on the tie-down, nice touch.

Stuck the axle back under it so I could start to figure out where the shocks are going to go. Then on to closing all the open space back in and add some tube around the wheel wells.

Damn, I am digging all the fab work you have done. I dont think your going to mess up that rear axle at all.
I like your rocker fix. I need to do that to mine sometime soon.

Started the rear bumper. First up made some tow points, they go 10" back into the frame and use four 5/8 bolts each and two of the factory bolts per side.

Angled the ends to help clear the spring shackles.

Added a receiver to the bumper as well.

Then started on the tube for the wheel wells.

Found some time to get a few more things done on the XJ .
Finished up the tube around the rear wheels and tied it into the bumper and the spring mounts.

Now I need to pull it back off and finish welding it up.

And it looks like ill be stretching the front end at least 3" to make some room for the tires they will be hitting the front of the rock sliders . So I guess I get to three link the front sooner rather than latter.
