Default A huge hole has opened in our home today.

I lost my bestus dog, my buddy, the one that greeted me after a long week at work with a real hug. I have been a blubbering mess all day. I finally got well, and was thinking I was even luckier that my son had not asked where she was.

I let out my lab, only to almost lose it again. Then my 2 year old goes to let the dogs in and starts calling for "Chancey" and doing his best to whistle and then asking where she is when I was trying to explain she wouldn't be coming in because she isn't here. I am sitting here blubbering like a fool again.

She was healthy and bouncing off the walls yesterday morning when I left, my wife got home from work and her leg was immensely swollen so she runs her to the vet. There was no break and blood work was good.

This morning I got a call when I was in Indianapolis that she died this morning, my wife drove home on her morning break to check on her and she was already gone. Had she been ill I could cope so much better, not knowing WTF happened to her has me twice as torn up.

Why the hell do we have pets again? It's so cruel that they don't out live us.

RIP Chance. You were wonderful. Even if your previous owner made you neurotic.

Sorry for your loss. Rip buddy.

My German Shepherd's health has been on a steady decline for the past few months. Every other night or so I have to pick her up and carry her upstairs to bed. It's not fun to pick up a 80lb dog with a bad back, but if I don't she will whine or bark at the bottom of the stairs and wake up the baby.
I am dreading the day when it comes.

They now think it was a blood clot that broke loose and travelled to her brain or heart.

Last night they thought she had a 'severe trauma' to her leg. But she was home with our 7 year old lab, and no one else. Short of falling down the stairs I do not know what could have happened.

Her symptoms match up pretty good with a Aortic Thromboembolism.
